Three words for you: Fig. Prosciutto. Pizza. (Doesn?t sound like it would be good, but trust me: it was delicious!) it was the... arugula that sealed the deal. This place was humming (busy) on a random Wednesday afternoon, around 5pm. They must be doingsomething right. Staff were friendly. INCREDIBLE!!! Homemade pasta and brick oven pizzas...can't go wrong if you want Italian that's in a sweet little town. The... homemade gnocchi was pan fried and topped with vodka sauce and fresh basil. SUPERB! Small and quaint...get there early, but theyalso have a patio. BUON APETITO! Read more
This place was such a happy surprise. We went for an early lunch and service was amazing, the place itself was cute, and most... importantly the food was delicious. The gnocchi was good (could?ve used slightly more sauce) but the ravioli!! The vodka saucewas so flavorful and I especially enjoyed the panko crusted chicken. We have eaten at A Tavola a handful of times and this was by far the WORST experience we have ever had at any restaurant! First... off, we walked in and were greeted very rudely from the bartender. We sat down and our Server knew very little about the menu(had to ask for clarification from someone else for everything we tried to order). Our margaritas were served like a bourbon onrocks would be served. She tried to take our silverware and napkins right when the pizza came out. To top it all off, our 3 yearold daughter was still eating her slice off pizza and our server took it, we said something and she literally came back with itfrom the kitchen (who knows what was done with it) ???????? We absolutely loved our time here. I came with my family, which included small children, and we sat outside on the covered... patio. We came between lunch and dinner, so we were the only ones out there. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Bathroomswere clean and easy to get to. Plenty of parking in the lot behind the building at this time (I could see parking being tightduring busier hours). The food was excellent. We had several different pizzas, mine had chicken, balsamic, and pesto and wasabsolutely delicious. They forgot to add the mushrooms on (as I had requested), but it tasted great otherwise. They are brickfired pizzas, so they have crispy, thin crusts, which were really good dipped in tomato sauce. There is no kids menu, but theyoffer cheese and pepperoni pizza for the kids, or buttered noodles. We got them a cheese pizza and noodles and the kids werevery happy. They are located in the heart of Madeira, steps away from coffee and shops. We really enjoyed our afternoon here. Read more
I loved this restaurant 6, 7, 8 years ago. But it has definitely declined since then. Food is good and a great atmosphere. The... service is good too. The portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. And my pizza was black and burnt on thebottom but the rest of it was not cooked all the way through. And the dough on my husband's pizza was not cooked all the wayeither. Definitely not worth the prices. Read more
