IFL this place. My former breakfast joint closed, so this morning, I went searching and struck GOLD.
Side salad came with only old, brown, iceberg lettuce. Waitress never came to ask if we needed anything. Very disappointing.
Used to really enjoy eating here. The cook slammed our plates on the table and didn't say a word to us. She was angry for some... reason. I realize they get busy. I'll go somewhere else where I don't have to deal with drama. Read more
If you are looking for a 'blast from the past' dining experience then I highly recommend stopping in to the Fair Oaks Diner. The... employees were friendly and helpful. The service was prompt and the food was hot. I was there for the breakfast hour and thefood(eggs and sausage) were perfection. I really enjoyed sitting at the counter and seeing items from days gone by. From thewall hung dial telephone to the milk dispenser and milkshake machine to the Campbell soup display and the single serve cerealbox display I languished in fond memories. I have lived in Madison. Since 2015, why am I just now trying this place? Low key, off the radar, local diner. Small and cozy.... Since it?s small it?s not hard to get someone?s attention if you have a question. The bagel of the day that I had, with bothbacon and sausage was a bit greasy, but I love a sloppy sandwich so for me it was a positive. YMMV. American fries, while notas presentable as other places, they still tasted amazing. I couldn?t put my fork down once I tried them. I have only been hereonce so this is based off of that one experience. But let me tell you, I have been to many places for lots of different things,u will come back to this place again real soon. My dad took me and my siblings here when we were children around 7. This was our favorite spot for breakfast. Over the years... many owners took over. One day I decided to take my family here. The waitress Dani was really sweet and hard working. She gotto us quickly and met all of our needs. The food on the other hand is a hard pass for me as well as the cleanliness. I will notbe returning nor recommending this place to anyone. Sorry. Read more
I ordered the Denver Skillet with cheese. It was way over cooked. The eggs over medium were cooked too long and no longer had... yoke. My french toast had an onion taste almost as if the grill was not cleaned or scraped between orders. Read more
The staff was friendly and courteous I would recommend this dinner if you want mom&pop food
