Unapologetically bold flavors, tastes like how it?s cooked when visiting south east Asia. The family that runs the restaurant is... Laos, so there take on some the more mainstream dishes (like pho and pad thai) have a unique flavor to them, different than theVietnamese and Thai restaurants that I?ve been accustomed to. They are set up at the back left corner of an Asian grocery story.Total hole in the wall (in all the best ways). Good portions and fair prices. Highly recommend. Read more

You would never know it existed based on signage, or anything else. It's inside a store. That's usually how good food start,... inside of another store then bam it's big time! I had a combination fried rice. It was spicy for sure. It's certain levels ofspicy you can get. In this case I went with 1 and it was still perfect. You can tell the ingredients were fresh, wasn't loadedwith a lot of oils and unnecessary fillers. Read more

I wish they had more signage out front, because I wonder if there are people who can't find this gem, hidden in the back of a... food store. There were cooks preparing each meal to order in a transparent, small, and what seemed to be family-owned-and-runkitchen. Meal came out piping hot and fresh. Flavors were crisp and distinct. Vegetables were a great texture. We easily madeour meal vegetarian (maybe vegan?) with the choice of tofu as a protein. We left feeling satisfied, but still light andenergetic, the mark of a healthy meal. Read more

Are you kidding me?!?!? This place was incredible! I have had a lot of Asian food since moving to Madison and I can promise you,... not a single place in town touches Hot n Spicy in flavor or value. I originally tried it because of a review that said ?bestfried rice in town? they weren?t kidding. I have had a ton of Laotian and Hmong food from all over and this stands in a verytight group of elite food. The only comparison in the entire state is Eat30 in Depere, WI but this is a close 2nd. Thank you Hotn Spicy for redeeming the city of Madison with you culinary art. I will be a regular real soon. Admittedly I got carry out andam completely unsure of the dining experience in house but if the food is any indication I?m sure the service matches. It?sabout what I?d expect for the love shown in the cooking. 5 stars all day every day! Read more
