Ordered a few things to go which makes it hard to grade but this still had some heavy hitters!! The bacon burger and plantains... topped the chart. Place was busy wait was 35 min, so I got a beer (scotch ale) from the wonderfully polite and kind bartender she was great, and... settled in for the wait but 2 sips in they were ready to seat us. Cool atmosphere and excellent beer selection, cheese curdswere crispy outside chewy hot center very good. My fish was a Friday fish fry good but typical, waitress was fantastic on top ofevery need desert was an Apple crisp ala mode with ice cream very good with the ale so I had another to go with it, greatexperience and the best staff, thank you. Can't say enough about Janene (spl?) and her lunch service outside in the sun with our puppy. She was handling multiple tables,... yet we had fantastic service at 2pm. We always come back to Great Dane because of the food & beer & service and are neverdisappointed. Please go there for their food, beer and their service - you will not regret it!. Update: The bartender provided great service. The fried cheese curds were tasty with the nice ranch sauce. The mac and cheese... had a flavour of what I think is mustard which was somewhat overpowering. The blackened chicken was beautifully cooked andspiced. Original: The beer selection is great. I had a stout and a scotch ale. Both were a nice temperature and had goodflavour profiles. The fish and chips were as expected. They had a nice crust with plenty of tartar sauce. The fries were a bitlimp bit the flavour was good. The value for the price is pretty good. Read more
Well, I used to be a big fan of the Great Dane downtown, so thought the hilldale location would be an easy place for dinner when... the whole family was exhausted at the end of the work day. We were seated outside, as we requested . The first thing I noticedwas two piles of dog barf covered with napkins under my chair. OK, they cleaned it up when I asked, but why hadn't anyonenoticed? When the food came, my husband's side was cold, but he doesn't like to complain, so kept it. I had ordered the HighPoint Harvest Bowl. Looked great. The veggie mix was great, but the "sesame encrusted tofu" was not encrusted. It was coveredwith sesame seeds and marinade and otherwise lightly warmed. There was no "encrustment." (Google a recipe, it has a specificmeaning.) When I asked for them to cook it to crisp, the person spoke over me, saying "A lot of people confuse that. Youprobably read the deep fried tofu from the other recipe, do you want that?" Sure, I'll take it. After I'd finished most of therest of the dish, out came deep fried tofu that had zero marinade, sauce, or even a splash of soy sauce. Waiter was gone beforeI could ask for soy sauce and didn't see him again until the bill came. I guess, overall, I would suggest that they work on thetofu recipe and not talking over customers. Stopped in for a quick bite! Fast service, and friendly, too! I tried the Falafel Mediterranean Bowl which was surprising they... had, and turned out to be delicious! We also got the cheese curds but they were a bit undercooked and tasted like they weresitting out for a bit. Read more
Thanksgiving buffet was varied and we'll stocked. Turkey, prime rib and ham. Garlic mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole,... green been casserole, brussel sprouts and the list goes on.
