It was busy but there wasn't a long wait. Service was fast and the food was delicious.

Almost always perfect! A few times I've ordered food and it comes out lukewarm and old or the steak is burnt but usually the... food is hot and delicious. The staff are always nice either way and they get you seated and served very fast here. This is thebest La Carreta out of 4 others I've been to when it comes to food and service. We called ahead and made a reservation because we expected them to be pretty busy on a Friday night. You can tell they are the... best Mexican restaurant in the area by the line of people waiting down the sidewalk outside. We bypassed the line and theyescorted us to our reserved table. A beautiful cozy atmosphere, along with a delicious Mexican meal served to perfection! I love this place!

The appeal of Mexican food is cheap margaritas and free chips and salsa. I especially like this location because the bathrooms... are downstairs. It's a great test to make sure you've not had too many drinks. My last visit however did not go as well. I wasunable to flag any server down for nearly 15 minutes. A few times I'd make eye contact with a server and they'd turn theirheads, like, "not my table, not my problem." They gave us 1 bowl of salsa for 4 people, which we ran out of immediately. Wetried to ask for more, but it took our actual server 35 minutes to refill it. When our server came to the table he only wantedour drink orders. We had all our menus at the end of the table and was ready to eat, but he wouldn't take them. He served 1drink at a time at 10 to 15 minute intervals. By the time the last of us got a drink, 2 of us were done. I like this locationand perhaps it was just a bad day where all the wait staff didn't want to work. La Carreta is a local favorite for a reason! From childhood to adulthood, LaCa has been in heavy regular rotation for me...and... many others! While I no longer live in the area, when I come into town I always make sure to eat at one of the establishments inAmherst or Lynchburg. The food is delicious, service is speedy and the prices reasonable. Definitely worth a visit if yourin the mood :) Read more

I have never, NEVER been disappointed by a La Carreta's!! Their food is always perfect and the portions are like visiting my... grandmother's house--every time! Also, I don't usually like standard margarita's, but theirs just tastes.....amazing! Ordered itwith no salt, which was perfect. I could taste every little bit of lime they used to make it. Finally, on my way out, had to usethe restroom. Asked one of the servers where it was and he told me "KFC"... There's a KFC next door. ????
