The menu changed just burgers fish n chips salad chicken fingers and special of the day quesidilla. Ordered quesidilla...they... were dry cold hardly any chicken no cheese sent back and came back with unmelted very little cheese cold chicken and would notstick together. Fish ok...tartar sauce no flavor no flavor to coleslaw...views amazing and service good. Will not be going back!Went here a few years ago and they had full menu and amazing food. It was not a good experience we had to go and ask for a menu after sitting there for 15 minutes. They are obviously having... staffing issues which we can understand and are fine to wait our turn but after 15-20 minutes no water or menu or not evenoffered a coffee it was time to go. Good regular food, small menu now. Incredible views! Limited gluten free options (to be expected), little staff knowledge about... what could be made gluten free, and very much not celiac safe. Ordered gluten free and was brought a salad with croutons andfries from a cross contaminated fryer on the place touching the gf burger (which were not the sides ordered). We made a last minute reservation this morning for lunch as this was our first visit to The Malahat Chalet. Service, food, and... view were 10/10. It’s a long weekend so they were unfortunately out of a couple of their popular items but I can promise thatthe halibut and fries are superb. My husband had a burger and says it was great. They noted his allergy and he felt well takencare of. We were even offered a sample of one of their pizzas and it was delicious. No room for dessert but maybe next time! I eat out regularly and the Malahat Chalet is one of my go to places. So much so that I have gotten to know the staff on a... personal level. I must say there clam chowder is the best I have ever had. I compare all others chowders to theirs. Either way Icame in later in the evening one night and things were starting to shut down. John was not going to let that stop my culinaryexperience from happening. He plated up some food and it was delivered with so much pride, and within my visit, john, the headchef, and of course the fabulous server Laura all came by and had a personal chat. FYI I eat out alot! I've eaten all over the world Eating out is one of my hobbies out here on vancouver island and I've eaten at... the Chalet many times. There is a new chef and new menu. everything was amazing and everyone at the table LOVED their food. The Barley Risotto was one of the best meals I've had (sorry no photo of that one) on top of the great food we enjoyed awonderful view of the inlet. Read more

Large portions, the menu has so much to offer. salad popping with flavor, Halibut in the beer batter was perfectly cooked, lots... to offer the vegatarian. Great friendly staff, also having the dog allowed on the patio was a huge bonus not to have concernswhile enjoying the stunning views and good food. Read more

It is easy to dismiss this little gem when you are just driving pass along the highway with their unassuming store front. But... once you step in, it is hard to not be impressed by the views! And the setup inside is pretty nice and cozy. My Mint Conditiondrink is a bit over-limed and sour for my taste. My husband's drink was delicious (forgot the name), so it might have been justchoice of drink. Would definitely get a different drink next time. Our food were all very delicious. Loved my salmon cakes. Wehad high hopes for the desserts. We ordered a slice of the Banana Bomb but was a bit underwhelmed. We actually think we wouldbook a room in their hotel adjacent to the restaurant sometime. The rooms must have incredible views like the restaurant. And itwould be quite lovely to wake up and come over to breakfast! Read more
