Environment was pretty good. At a minimum, the crowd was very friendly. Our server was pretty good but not great. She was... very friendly though. Had to keep looking for her. Food was also so-so. I'm not sure why a French dip doesn't have a massiveamount of dripping cheese, a hard roll, and a larger ramekin for dipping. See my review for The Cove in Pennsylvania and you'llunderstand. The beer selection was respectable, and better than most, but they were out of the bells two-hearted. Environmentwas great this particular night because my brother-in-law was playing music up there. I had the black bean veggie burger. It was excellent. Very flavorful. The black bean patty itself was quite savory. I also love... that the burger comes with guacamole. So good! It doesn't come with cheese, you have to ask for them to put cheese on and thatcosts an additional dollar. The French fries were pretty good. The one thing I really didn't like was there were a few fruitflies hovering around our table and our food. This was annoying and gross. This is why I'm not giving the full five stars. Theservice was good. Our server was very friendly, polite and helpful. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Theatmosphere is nice. It was pretty quiet when we went there. I decided to take my wife here for a milestone birthday. What a mistake and an utter disappointment. Her food was greasy; my... sandwich was super dry. We ate anyway and went shopping. Within an hour, both sick to our stomachs and in the bathroom. Not agreat way to spend a special day together. I guess the dark, late 70?s decor should have been the first red flag. Business has gone way downhill. Especially when AJ is at the helm. Below is a picture of RARE prime rib aus jus. Called and... spoke to manager AJ who was very crass. When discussing the issue he offered me a ?discount? on my next meal. Really shocks mebc they used to have amazing food and even better customer service. Read more
My wife, step daughter and her husband had brunch here. We were originally going to another place for breakfast but the place... was full. We were all glad that it turned out that way. For Sunday brunch, City Tavern had a buffet which was really good. They had an omelette bar with fresh waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and gravy biscuits, home fries and then they hadchicken wings, potato skins and more. They also had a nice dessert car. There were no complaints about any of the food from the4 of us. I feel it was a good value and we will definitely go there again. Read more
Well understand this is a tavern in the truest sense. I stopped in one weekday evening for a quick bite to eat, they have a... decent happy hour on drink prices a bit loud as they have entertainment and it is a close space. The guy at the table next to mewas literally shouting to talk which didn't do much for my enjoying my meal. They had a very good special to offer, with today'sinflation got prime rib and 3 sides for 16.99 with my one bar drink total tab $20.00 well worth the loud music! I had the most amazing experience at this restaurant last night! My friend was celebrating some big things coming up in her life... and the staff was so amazingly nice to her. They joined in celebrating her. The food was good. The drinks were top tier! Thefall sangria was so tasty! The vibes here were just so amazing! 10/10 would recommend. Read more
