No clue how anyone is having a bad experience here. Twice Union Underground has saved our first night weekend-getaway dinners by... virtue of actually being open past 9 and being competent but not pretentious. It's a casual pub-style place with some extraflair in the dishes and a good changing beer/cider selection. The burger was excellent and possibly the most perfectly cookedmedium (pink) I've ever seen in person. Bravo. Our server was incredibly nice and helpful even though it was getting late (bothseparate times we visited). He actually helped guide us to a beer and cider that we both enjoyed so much that we tracked downmore of each one later in a local beer and wine distributor. The only even possible negative was that one of our soups wasn'tsuper hot but everything else was on point and we were really pushing the clock on that visit. I wish we could steal this placeand bring it back home with us. There are a lot of pub eateries with available local booze in VT, but this is NOT just anotherone. Read more
Decent burger, decent live music. In the basement. Wait staff werent super responsive and a few little things, like not enough... ketchup with the burger and fries (tiny half filled cup) and hard to flag someone down for more. But passable and an excellentbeer selection. Read more
A great pub, in a town that needs more like it. Several good restaurants in Manchester, but only one other pub. Pool tables in... the back provide a casual atmosphere. Had their burger. Very tasty, and not they use a "soft pretzel like" roll - unique anddelicious. If you're looking for a pub-like atmosphere, this is your place in Manchester. Read more
Our order was 2 French onion soups. The flavor was good but they were served to us at the low end of warm. My wife had the... brisket dip. I had the chicken BLT. We had two other items chosen prior to arrival but the menu was not as large as a recentone we had seen on line ( chicken and waffles and fish and chips) so we settled for these two. The onion rings that came withthe sandwiches were very good. Our waiter was very nice but a pet peeve of mine is having a meal brought out when you arehalfway through the appetizer.I felt like this establishment was average. Great, intimate, charming dining experience in what I suspect was the vault of the union bank, or something of that sort. They... have the original vault door still installed down there.
