After 33 years living in Asia, having been to Nepal and countless times to India I must say, Babu is a hit. We had the samosa,... murg vindaloo, saag paneer, and all was excellent. It was so good that we doubled down and ordered take-out. This is an honestplace making a very good effort. My wife is Singaporean, restaurant owner and chef, and she loves Babu’s food and service. What a wonderfully authentic Indian and Nepali restaurant! I must apologize in advance for the lack of food photos - I simply... couldn’t keep it on my plate long enough! So simple, yet so delicious. My dinner guest and I opened with Samosa Chat; whileonly coming out a few minutes in advance of our entrees, it was still exquisite and perfectly seasoned - a perfect opener toawaken our taste buds! The simplicity of the dish and the fullness of flavor(s) was pure delight. We had some garlic naan,Saag w/lamb, and Rogan Josh w/ lamb for our main course. We ordered it at a medium heat level, which I found to be more towardthe mild side. Nevertheless, the flavor of the respective entrees were even more dazzling than the Samosa appetizer! The lambwas cooked to a “melt in your mouth” consistency in both dishes, and the seasoning level left our tastebuds to dance forjoy. The garlic naan was a suitable backdrop to sweeping up the last bits of Basmati rice and sauce woven with a potentblending of cumin, ginger, and turmeric. We kept our beverages simple with the standard water, which the server(s) kept filledfor us. We passed on desert, which to be honest I’m not sure there were any listed on the menu. Really no matter however,with Patsy’s Ice Cream and Candy Shop being just across the street - if you don’t know, add it to your visit list. Theportions, presentation and service were on pace with the flavor of all food offerings. The staff was friendly and attentive. The decor was not overdone; rather adding nicely to the overall authenticity of the experience. So, whether you are familiarand appreciative of Indian cuisine or your pallet is in need of a jumpstart, you need to make a visit to Manitou and show uphungry to Babu’s. It was the best “accidental” discovery I’ve made in quite some time. Price was fair - even with agenerous tip. Do your tastebuds a solid and put Babu’s on your dining bucket list. Read more
I visited Manitou Springs recently and the appetite for Indian food got me into this place. The ambience was okay but the food... was tasteless and never had the curry (paneer) tasted like that. The rice was not fresh and having some kind of smell. The guyin the restaurant was friendly and ambience was okay!! 2 stars just because the tea was good.. Read more

We were in Manitou to visit the penny arcade and ended up parking right in front of this place! Being a fan of Indian food, my... family and I decided to give this spot a try for dinner! We were quickly greeted and seated by friendly staff, and then spentquite a while perusing the extensive menu, which we all appreciated! We started off with samosas (of course), whichunfortunately arrived cold on the inside. The waitress took them back, and returned the same samosas, which had been heatedthrough. They were still very tasty, so I'm not taking away a star for that. These things happen sometimes! We also orderedchicken tikka masala, saag paneer, veggie korma, garlic naan and some galub jamun to finish off. The saag paneer was THE bestwe've ever had, as was the garlic naan! Ok not a good picture but I was busy eating!! The garlic naan, and the samosa chaat were delicious. Rice was a bit dry for me,... and I can’t remember the name of the other dish but it was delicious too. The service was great. We love asking forsuggestions and the waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and flavors. Read more
