Theeeee absolute best soul food and top notch service. Had fried chicken, yams and cornbread, the food was fresh and steaming... when it was brought to the table. When you enter the restaurant they greet you like you are old friends, very welcomingatmosphere and the bonus is the restaurant is very clean. My first time here in 4 years, and it was good! There was much appreciation for seeing us, as we made it right at the time dine... in dining ended for the night. I got the 2 piece whiting with Mac and cheese and collard greens. Everything was good, but ofcourse, the cornbread was amazing. Amazing place! The atmosphere is great and it?s very pretty inside. The food is out of this world fresh and we had the pleasure... of meeting Joe the manager who is SO welcoming and friendly and really made us feel like part of the family! First time here on a Sunday the food looked amazing from the moment we were walking in&it was good! They have fast service kind... of busy but they seem to run this establishment pretty fast. Amazing hospitality and great food. Fried chicken is juicy and perfectly fried and crispy. Mac and cheese was also delicious and... so was the collard greens and yams! The cornbread is some of the best cornbread I've ever had. Overall give this place a 20 outof 10 !! Read more
Before I give my honest review I want to let you know this review will show biases. Our dining experience wasn't completely 5... stars. (more like 4.5) I'm giving them 5 stars because I appreciate their hard work and determination to keep this restaurantafloat. It wasn't easy finding a soul food spot that looked worthy enough to dine in. I needed a place to take my mother-in-lawfor her birthday. We're not from NJ, we were there visiting. Thanks to others' ratings, reviews and images, I knew this would beour best option. Upon walking in, my family and I were greeted by Cornbread's team. That felt welcoming. It was our firstvisit. A staff member explained that we would have to order our food first and then find seats in the dining area. (food will bebrought to us) We ordered 4 meals plus drinks (non-alcoholic). This cost $89. My son, mother-in-law and I enjoyed our dishes. Unfortunately my wife's tastes buds weren't pleased. Kim ordered the Turkey Wings, Mac & Cheese, and Collard Greens (the latterof which they forgot to deliver to the table). One thing I respect about this restaurant is the fact that they're willing tocorrect their mistakes. They offered my wife another side dish - for free. My mother-in-law felt the sweet-tea wasn't assweet. So in return the staff offered her the chance to taste their 'Southern Twang" drink. She enjoyed that one. As for my sonand I, our taste buds enjoyed the seasoning on the fried chicken and whiting fish. Welcome To Cornbread! This is how we were greeted as customers. I definitely enjoyed the Turkey Wings and sides in the pictures... below. As the food looked amazing to me so was the taste. The thing for me is that it was the right and just enough seasoningfor me. Customer service matches the great tasting food that is being served. The cleanliness of the place was a n point.
