Reviews for Trattoria Locale in Margaretville, NY

First and foremost, if you plan on coming here for a normal, dine-in experience, I would definitely recommend it. The food we... had was delicious. However, if you plan on having Trattoria cater an event, I can't recommend it. My wife and I contracted withTrattoria in May to cater our rehearsal dinner in August. From that point on, it became nearly impossible to get in touch withthem. Since we don't live in the area, we couldn't just stop by the restaurant to speak to them; we had to rely on phone andemail Between myself, my parents, and even our point of contact at our wedding venue, we attempted to reach out dozens of timesbetween May and August to plan basic things about the dinner - whether it'd be catered or at the restaurant, specific dietaryrestrictions for guests, what would be on the menu, the actual time of the dinner, etc. Their phone goes straight to voicemail, and they would only occasionally respond via email, but only ever to say that they would call us back later (and never would). We didn't get a phone call back from them until a week before the actual rehearsal dinner, at which point we were scrambling tofind a second option if Trattoria fell through. Though their food was excellent and the people there are friendly, it wasn'tworth the stress already attached to a pretty stressful process. Read more

A sunny Saturday early evening on the front porch was the perfect spot for an excellent early supper. The food and service was... excellent! Portions were generous, but not so much that we needed doggie bags. The tuna (puttanesca) was perfectly cooked. Read more

Beautiful outdoor dinner. Served promptly and cordially (my group were the only guests dining in while we were there). The menu... was probably under a dozen dishes, but that made choosing something easier. Two wines available and one dessert, which wasfabulous. I loved my chicken parmesan, although there were more large tomato chunks on it than I wanted to eat. Read more

AVOID at all costs! This restaurant used to be great and authentic. But it was sold, as well as its name, to people who now... operate a dirty, unsatisfying greasy spoon. They only had one menu for 2 people. The restaurant was empty, except for one othernoisy table, and they sat us 2 feet from them. The floor was dirty, cobwebs on the chairs, terrible music playing, the flowerson the table were dead, the staff were sullen and dirty looking (like they had just finished working at a construction site). Not friendly at all. After waiting a half hour for our dinners, were were brought 3 small pieces of bread. They also had troubleproviding change for a cash transaction. And the food was not even close to being authentic. Very sad... the original placecould not survive the pandemic. And we loved it. But this place now... never going back. Neither should you. Read more

5 stars for food, 5 stars for service, 5 stars for ambiance! We had a great dinner here the other night after spending the day... hiking. We had a delicious chopped salad (why don’t salads I make at home taste that good?) and pasta that was cookedperfectly al dente. The sauces were wonderfully flavorful without being overly salty like some restaurants. I would 100% go backnext time I’m in the area- loved this place! Wish I lived closer as it felt like a perfect cozy date night spot. Read more

We picked up takeout from here on recommendation from the staff of the Roxbury Motel, and they did not steer us wrong.... Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful and of ample portion. Hopefully we can come back and dine in, so we can experiencethe full dining experience at this quaint and wonderful little gem in the Catskills. We will be back! Read more

This is an incredibly cozy restaurant we stopped by while visiting friends in the cat skills. We had lunch here and the food was... amazing, not what you would expect from a small town restaurant. I had the sauteed eggplant and smoked trout mascarpone spreadcrostini which was delicious! The eggplant is especially great! Main course was Linguine Con Gamberi - so flavorful, with justthe right amount of kick to it. This chef knows what he is doing! My wife is gluten free and was very excited that they had lotsof gluten free options. She had the Rigatoni Alla Norma pasta and I had to dig into her meal as well! The owners were veryfriendly and recently moved from NYC. They have lots of experience running high end restaurants in the city, which definitelyshows in the quality of the food. Definitely recommend this spot as a destination - you won't be disappointed!! Read more
