Stopped in for lunch while passing through Marietta and Shanks did not disappoint. Who knew we would be dining in 200 year old... tavern! The atmosphere was so neat and our waiter (Jimmy?) was super attentive and welcoming. I got the turkey pesto sandwichand my mom got the balsamic flatbread which were both super tasty and filling. First time here. They were always closed whenever we went through the town. Sat outside. Wasn't crowded for lunch on a nice... Saturday. Menu wasn't very big, but food was good. Portions were a little small, but that said prices were reasonable for thesize. I'll go back again. Service was fantastic. Read more
This is the type of place, although we do not go often but if you do, "Everyone knows your name." VERY good food, VERY friendly... people, beautiful Tavern. Thank you for a great Quesadilla w/chicken and House Salad, delicious blue cheese dressing and CheeseSteak and Soup. This time had the Flatbread pizza, Vegetarian Spring Roll with peanut sauce and my husband was hungry for theirHam and Turkey sandwich, all delicious. Such a historic bar and super friendly staff. I could spend hours just looking at the walls and the pictures and talking to all... that nice patrons. Had the burger and a salad and it was perfect just as ordered. But what I really liked was the beerselection, out of the 10 or 12 taps only two or three IPAs, thus they had excellent other choices, really like that in a barthese days. Read more
Lancaster County's oldest tavern has a feel that's missing in too many of today's drinking establishments. They don't have to... try to be a cool local spot, because that's exactly what they are.
