This was a destination dinner for us, about an hour from our house. I'd been here about 20 years ago and knew it was a great,... unique venue. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. My wife ordered the special which was scallops and shrimp in a garlicsauce with rice. What she got was grilled shrimp and scallops on a skewer with rice, but no garlic sauce. I got the chickenpot pie. My first few bites were actually cold. This is strange since chicken pot pie ordered anywhere is normally very hot.We also got charged for an extra glass of wine, which we noticed and had corrected. The staff and venue are very nice, but thefood disappointed. Read more

This was a really bad experience. Drinks were forgotten, bread not delivered until we asked for it (right before the meal... arrived), appetizer forgotten, but the worst was my main course. I ordered the smoked BBQ pork shoulder and it arrived inediblydry and overcooked. It took us several attempts to flag our waiter who then promised to expedite a new serving. I sat and waitedover 10 minutes as everyone else at the table finished their plates. We finally got a different server's attention who got myreplacement, which turned out to be not what I ordered but the pork loin. By that point I was so hungry and we were running lateto our event I just ate it. They comped my meal but nothing else. Also, one of our party ordered the mac and cheese which shesaid was decent but was not described on the menu as being topped with BBQ sauce, which she did not care for. While eventuallyapologetic about it the staff seemed more intent on hinting I was wrong about my dish than simply correcting the problem. I lovesmoking pork butt and do so frequently myself. It can get overdone and I understand stuff happens, but as a restaurant your jobshould be to please the customer not question their judgement. It is a nice looking restaurant, we loved the ambience, and Ihad been looking forward to trying the pecan pie out carrot cake for dessert, but given the level of service we received wedecided to leave without partaking. Seems it could have been quite good but we will not be back. Read more

My first time here and probably my last. They weren't that busy, only a few tables but so many mistakes. It took a few minutes... for our server to take our order, drink, appetizers and main meal which came with soup. Warm bread was delivered and thenfinally our wine. Appetizers came and then finally our meal but, we never did get our soup. When we got our check, we asked forthe soup that was never delivered and dessert to go. Got our dessert but the soup never came. I got home ready to enjoy mydessert and noticed mold on top. Sigh. Our meal was delicious, but not sure it made up for everything else that went wrong. Excellent reuse of a historic mill building in Mazomanie. Inside and outside dining venues. Rock/Rocky, our server, was... friendly and funny. The food was delicious at a reasonable price. Also featured a sizeable bar area and a gift shop with lotsof trinkets. We think that there is a very large party venue on the second floor, but didn't confirm that. Read more

The food was really good! The honey mustard dressing was surprisingly delicious. I was surprised that they recommended... reservations, though. My group was definitely under dressed, but at least they still let us in. ???? Read more

We get hear every couple years. The rustic building is a Wonderful place for a bar nd family restaurant. The only thing is... the it seems that we get a great meal and bad service or great service and bad meal. This time is was the latter. Service wasgreat. The had made quilts that space out the tables due to covid were a very nice touch and our waitress was patient andfriendly. We had the home town favorite meatloaf with garlic masters. The meat and saw were so salty it could have been used tobeing in deer from cross plains. Not good at all. The mushroom strudel had many fungi flavors but not taste. Also it was hoton the outside and cold in the middle. Bummer. The appatizer lemon brushette was very good. Tart, created and crunchy. it isto bad the inconsistency, but I am sure we will go back to this great place. Read more

Warm, friendly atmosphere. Waitress was amazing, described everything wonderfully, checking to see how everything was several... times, if we needed anything else. Even helped with the wine list, able to sample a couple before choosing a glass. A lot ofchoices and everything from scratch. The prices are on the higher side, but so worth it!! Read more
