Overall, a good place to eat. Fairly expensive. The food was good quality. As we're the drinks. Bartender did a good job making... drinks, didn't smile at all during the whole 1.5 hours we were there. If you're looking for a small and higher end place to eat, this is a good place to go. Not much seating inside. Definetly call ahead and make reservation, specially on weekend. Read more

I've had two visits to Bistro 5. The first time was excellent - my partner and I dined in and enjoyed the tasting menu with wine... pairings. The second time, last night, unfortunately did not uphold the same bar. I got the fried chicken special for takeout.Thankfully I live only a few minutes away and could quickly rescue the crispy fried chicken from sitting directly atop of themashed potatoes and dressed kale. The menu promised 5 chicken thighs - I received 4 drumsticks. That alone isn't worth acomplaint, however the chicken itself didn't taste like much of anything; it was reminiscent of unseasoned zucchini tempurawithout the flavorful dipping sauce. I applied a healthy dose of salt to the chicken, but couldn't fully revive it into tastinggood. There wasn't any detectible scent or taste of 'truffle' in the potatoes. Kale was the best item in the container. Maybethe kitchen wasn't having a good start to their night, but I wouldn't pay $25 for this quality or quantity of food again. Ifyou want to give this place a shot, I'd recommend dining in and sticking within the regular menu. Read more

Worst service one could possibly imagine. From waiting 35 minutes past our reservation time to get a table, to having the waiter... tell us “stop complaining aren’t you comfortable enough at the bar?”. They then charged us for the drinks we thought werecomplimentary due to the long delay. Food not too good for price. Diners beware - plenty of better restaurants in the area Editto response: the fact that the owner doesn’t take responsibility for his hostile and aggressive staff and states that wesimply didn’t have that encounter is frustrating to say the least, but not unexpected given the poor management of this venue.I’m sorry we didn’t feel inclined to leave a tip after being verbally insulted by your staff… not even sure that was meantas a joke on your behalf but unsettling none the less. I'm a longtime Medford resident, but had never been here before last night. Would probably go 3.5 stars if I could, but I've... rounded up to 4 for the service... as I'll detail below. We ate outside -- it was a little windy, no fault of the restaurant'sobviously. Besides that, the outdoor setup is nice. Super comfortable chairs! Cannot speak to the inside ambiance. Prices are alittle on the high side, but that was expected. They're currently running a "Dine Out Boston" menu where you can order anappetizer, entree, and dessert for $46 (+$25 for the optional wine pairings). I tried the grilled Caesar salad, which was allright. My bistro burger was also fine, not exactly to my taste but cooked to my preference. The consensus around the table wasthat the gnocchi was the best dish we sampled, so maybe stick to the pasta options. For dessert we got to try their homemadeBASIL ice cream, which was tasty and surprising in equal measure. The service was European-style and stellar, in my opinion --boosted the experience to 4 stars, as I already mentioned. This seems like a place that rotates its menu regularly, so I willpossibly return in the future. Read more

My experience dining in here and ordering out was nice. It’s simple food done very very well. I’ve had their cheeseburger,... steak, and calamari at different times and they were all excellent. I was extremely impressed by the way the octopus was cookedin a pasta dish I tried. I’ve only had dessert once ordering the cream puffs. Despite being loaded with chocolate, it wassomehow bland and the cream puff was bread-like rather than airy. I would pass this next time and try something else. Read more

Good service, nice atmosphere but a bit disappointed by the food: the 'vegan tasty' (grilled tofu) was really lacking flavors,... and by the overcooked and cold 'Flourless chocolate cake'. Read more

Great food, service and outdoor seating! Every time we walk by this restaurant we always tell ourselves that we NEED to try it... out. Well, tonight, we finally did. Our server Gabriella was friendly and efficient. Outdoor seating was really good and allowedfor private conversations (there is a commuter rail across the street but it’s not too frequent). The gnocchi was fantastic -love the truffle oil and mushrooms. Oysters were only a dollar each so that’s a great deal. The appetizers were a littleunderwhelming for our tastes. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back! Read more
