Unfortunately I have to give Browns two out of five stars today after last night?s fiasco the restaurant lighting is so dim you... can barely read the menu and I assume so that you can?t look at what your food really looks, like french fries not cooked allthe way and White rice should not have brown on it. This restaurant in Medicine Hat is continuously running out of food whetherit?s roast beef for the beef dip or last night there was no steaks, no Caesar salad which we were informed of when we were readyto order, not before, poor training for the staff on this point and no green chutney for the curry plate which they didn?t tellus until until we receive the two curry plates. I have a gluten allergy and love the gf options this chain has to offer and weorder once a week usually takeout and oh yes last month we were told we couldn?t order a takeout because they had a lineup outthe door and told to call back in an hour or so, this was at 6:30 on a Friday night. I think we should?ve had the option toorder and then say it?s gonna be an hour and a half or so to pick up and I would?ve been fine with that. We have been to BrownsRestaurant?s in Calgary, Moose Jaw and Regina(2) as well, with only one issue. I?m afraid Medicine Hat has to go at the bottomof the list and I am looking for other restaurants here that have gluten-free options. To be fair they did delete the two currydishes off the bill but I did not eat mine because it didn?t have the chutney so I went home hungry and they gave 20% off thehamburger plates for the fries not cooked, still ruined our meal no matter what you took off the bill. My wife and I each ordered a steak dinner. Hers was the one with scalloped potatoes and I had the one with pasta. Both meals... were incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection. We started with the calamari which was also amazing. Our server was exactly whatyou hope for. Prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. Will certainly return the next time we're in Medicine Hat. Read more

Server was very pleasant and attentive. The menu item we wanted was no longer available. We found a good alternative and... ordered. A full hour passed with no food and our server told us the kitchen was slow. The restaurant was maybe 50% full. There were at least two tables we saw that had ordered before us and we?re still waiting for their food. Server was veryapologetic. We paid for our drinks and left. Ended up buying food from a grocery and taking it back to our hotel. Thiswas very disappointing after a long day of travel. This place is not well managed. Read more

First time going to this place. Completely blown away with the food quality. Everything was just superb. Fries cooked perfectly... just the right crisp and seasoning. I ordered a beef dip and my wife got a breaded spicy chicken sandwich. Both were absolutelyperfect. Packed with flavor and fresh buns on both. Chicken seemed to be hand breaded. Gravy is delicious. I have been here a couple times now. The service is pretty good, servers have been friendly but a bit infrequent to fill drinks... etc. Food has been good, but not great. Lighting is really dim. I always love it here. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and wonderful food all the time (and their mojitos are excellent).... Recently visited again and ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl and was very impressed with it. The mashed avocado tied it alltogether very nicely and the shredded nori (seaweed) was a nice touch that made me feel like I was eating deconstructed sushi.Would definitely order this again and will most definitely be going back to the Medicine Hat location. Amazing, comfortable atmosphere. It feels like an old pub, but with modern food offerings and a great waitstaff. Our waitress... was fast and professional, and answered my brother's questions about the menu quickly. All together, it was about 80 minutesfor an entire visit, including dessert. I will absolutely be going back for another meal, as it's about average pricing for thequality of the environment. Not overpriced, but not budget either. Read more
