Sing Lay USED to be great Chinese eating. For years we ate there. It was that little whole in the wall kinda place that was just... soooo delicious. I ft know what they're doing to their food now but it is horrible. The egg rolls taste like old cabbage, nomeat & they're super small when they used to be HUGE. The rice is nasty. I had been craving Chinese food so my lady friend suggested this place. I got the shrimp fried rice (my go to) and some chicken... wings. They were fantastic! She got an order of lo mein that she enjoyed. It was difficult to find but worth the hunt. I nowhave a go to place for Chinese food again since my old standard shut down because of the pandemic. My visit to Sing Lay is always like being at home. This place has been a marker in my childhood.. though I don't know the owners... I can say that the food is good and I feel safe here. Their prices are reasonable and provide fusion options. Today I got hotwings (they're not spicy hot they are like mild hickory flavored wing pieces). They gave me like 10 of them and crinkle friesbecause I asked. The lady behind the counter may look young, but has looked the same since I was 3. I'm 34. She don't play. Lolso keep asking for what you want. Yess, she tried to discourage me from getting the fries and said No the hotwings come withfries lol but my son doesn't eat fried rice and I was sharing so I had to get these fries. Lol I got also two spring chickenrolls and a small shrimp fried rice extra Onion. She doesn't mind lol. Pointers... The spring roll is huge and the small friedrice is huge.. My total was 26 and some change so it was well worth it. I can't get this experience any where and the food isawesome..I drove 10 minutes home and it was still hot. Come during the day bc at night they are lazy. Maybe it was just tonight but I called in an order and went to pick it up, and... when I got there they tried to say I never called in an order and wouldn't open the door. I guess they realized they had made amistake and let me in but hadn't started cooking the food yet. In other words they weren't planning on making it to begin with.This used to be my favorite place to go but like every other food place in Memphis these days the customer service is poor atbest. Change your hours or tell people on the phone you don't want to take orders if thats the case instead of wasting payingcustomer's time. Read more
