Salut is perfect for dinner or just a nightcap thanks to their skilled bartenders, simple yet effective cocktail menu, and... lively atmosphere. If you do go for dinner, the wines by the bottle are so well priced, you won't break the bank if you have acocktail to start. The escargot was a great start and the pastry atop the mushroom tart was cooked to perfection but the star ofthe evening was the hangar steak with garlic butter and bernaise. We had a good experience here and would go again. We sat inside but there is a huge outdoor area I would like to try next time.... This places goes out of its way to let you know it is FRENCH! Decor, menu, etc. There are not as many entrees and choice as Iwould prefer, instead the menu is grouped into several sections with 4 or 5 items in each. We had the octopus appetizer andscallops appetizer both of which were wonderful. The drinks were fabulous, they make a great martini and give you an extraglass of booze to refill your stem glass. Nice. I had the Cobb salad entrée and I didn't really enjoy it. I should haveordered the baked walleye. My wife had the steak sandwich and really enjoyed it. I normally wouldn't post a review like this but wanted to share my experience as usually dining out at an establishment as... sophisticated as this, I would have expected better management. I went here with 3 friends and 3 out of the 4 of us gotextremely sick from eating the mussels (only 3 of us ate the mussels). We realized this the following day and informed therestaurant. After reporting the issue to the restaurant, they reported to the Dept of Health (which was the right protocol),and gave them all our contact info and symptoms. I requested to just be refunded the cost of the mussels. The Manager refused toacknowledge that it was in her ability to cover this or anything to show good faith due to the food causing our sudden vomitingand continuous nausea the same evening throughout the next day plus. She stated that if the state found that it was their food,they MAY consider some return but usually not their fault when they take these complaints. I expected more from this place andwill not plan to dine here again. It wasn't about the money, the customer service on things like this should be a no brainer. Iam still dealing with stomach discomfort from that experience and it was over a week ago. Very disappointed. Read more
Very cute and cozy. French music playing in the background and posters everywhere. Very French inspired American menu.... Everything I tried was pretty good. Had their ginger ale with house made syrup that was refreshing. Went during weekend brunchand got their Benedict florentine-overall flavors were wonderful. Downside, huge slice of raw tomato underneath the beautifulpoached egg and sautéed spinach really let me down. But the sauces on this were delectable and the creamy hash that comes withis gooey goodness. I’d go again to try other things in the menu. My mom and I went for dinner tonight. Everything was outstanding. I had the oysters and a beet and watermelon salad. Mom had the... 3 course Sunday Supper and wow. Everything was so good. I had a great experience and the atmosphere was very nice. The reason for my visit was the date they said I said a quiet table... like I had asked that Mojitos were tasted excellent and my steak was prepared just right. I will say though it is expensive.
