A lovely place to grab lunch or a snack! Outdoor patio with garden and views of the park next to the Rideau River and canal. ... The Merrickville Blockhouse is just across the street. Or eat inside and enjoy the superb food in their bright and cheerfuldining room. Was here this week on a very busy Sunday in Merrickville and the staff were so friendly, helpful, and courteous. Stopped for lunch en route to the Bruce Peninsula at this gem of a village. The Yellow Canoe Cafe is super well located across... from the Blockhouse. Soup and sandwich were delicious and home made. We had lunch on the patio of The Yellow Canoe. Our server Molly was hilarious. Best lunch we have had in a long time. I was... happy to see they had two vegetarian sandwich options on the lunch menu. I ordered the Vegetarian Grilled Eggplant, Sprouts andHavarti on focaccia.Yes I know eh? even better than it sounds. Apparently they are famous for their Sangria and they didn'tdisappoint. This is a nice spot to stop for a soup and sanwich or one of their great homemade deserts. Prety much everything is made on the... spot, including their scrumptious scones. I had the tomato soup with chedar/bacon/chives scone and it was sooo nice. We toppedit off with carrocake a date square, just Devine. It is a busy place.
