Another restaurant that was on our foodie radar for awhile. Old time looking Inn that adds ambience to the dining experience. ... Was also pleasantly surprised by the dinner as well. Ambiance great. Parking tough. Food was delicious. My scallops were cooked to perfection, except they were only luke warm. Not... hot. Lobster Potato Soup was great. Though I had to argue with the server that it was on the menu. She insisted they didn’thave it on the menu. My wife had the halibut and loved it. Biggest complaint. Extremely over priced. Not worth it. Portionsare small, European like. Nothing to take home for lunch the next day, even though I paid close to $40 for just my entree. Read more

We celebrated our anniversary here last night. We all thought the food was amazing!! Perfectly sized portions of chicken, short... ribs and scallops. Delicious! I had the halibut. It was cooked perfectly. For apps we shared calamari (just ok), salad, shrimp (huge) cocktail. The... drinks were also very good! For dessert, we shared the bread pudding and banana Caribbean both came with vanilla gelato. Read more
Very classy. Very nice inside. Need to wear dress clothes because it is a nicer restaurant. I got the braised pork osso buco and... when I tell you it was delicious, I absolutely loved it. Tender, seasoned perfectly, braised to perfection. I also got thecaribbean banana for dessert and it was the best decision. The flavor combination was delicate and complimented each aspect; notone part was overpowering. The phyllo was crispy, the gelato was flavorful. The Metuchen Inn is a top notch restaurant and has maintained it's reputation for many years. You are treated as a special guest... be it for lunch or dinner. The service is impeccable but not intrusive. And you can always count on a varied menu. One of myfavorites for good reason. Read more
