I was in the area for a work assignment, and I had the great opportunity to visit Hammers in Michigan City. It was a busy... Saturday night, but we were greeted by a very lovely hostess as well as the owner, Sheri. The atmosphere is lovely; the bar areawas warm and inviting and there was a great space outside for people to gather and eat. This is the kind of place that stillhand writes the specials on a chalkboard for the customers. Everything we had was delicious; we had the baked meatballs andcheese garlic bread as an appetizer. I enjoyed a half a rack of ribs and French onion soup. my coworker had the lasagna, andraved about it. all of the servers were affable, efficient, and pleasant. When we arrived, it was rather busy, but the ownerherself brought our drinks to our table so that we would not have to wait too long. Great place to eat. I could critique the appetizers being kinda expensive for what you get or how they are cooked but honestly... it's some of the best food I've eaten out lately. Pizza was tasty and lots of cheese, service was great. Read more
We are not from the area but stopped in for lunch 8/24 because we were nearby and on our way home from Michigan. The Baked... French Onion soup was amazing. My husband had lasagna which he loved! My son had spaghetti and meatballs?delicious! Themeatballs were huge and really good! I had a beef sandwich which came on a garlic ciabatta bread and was really good. Portionswere large and we each took 1/2 of our meal home. The service was really good and we really liked the waitress. There weren?tmany people when we first arrived and she informed us that they just started opening for lunch again! If you?re in the area,give it a try. It was really yummy! Read more

Great food, great price.. Left half is family and the right side is for the bar and only for over 21. So if you have a kid then... you gotta sit on the left half of the restaurant, but you can still order beer from the family side. The time we were there,another table was occupied by a low life cursing profanity with his kid in front...f this, f that, so the ambience was horribleuntil I told him to refrain from using those words. He was already drunk when he came in and the waitress didn't mind norretrained him from using those words or even not serve anymore beer. Went there tonight for pizza and a house salad! The balsamic dressing was way to much oil! Our pizza was greasy! Totally not... what we expected! And when you walked outside the grease smell was everywhere! Will try again, the dinners are good! Read more
