Went with my wife to an Italian restaurant perhaps for the first time on Long Island. We usually frequent Asian, Indian and... Hispanic food joints with the occasional Jamaican and Cajun fast food places. Love the interior of Lombardi's. Elegant whitecloth tables, light music and dimmed lights perfect for anyone to go on a date here. Our server was very good, she filled thewater, very attentive to our needs. Owner chatted with us a bit too which was quite nice. In terms of food we had the spaghetticarbonara and stuffed chicken marsala which was a special item. Great portion sizes I must say. Everything was disgusting. Salad was warm and mushy. Linguini and clam sauce was un sauce. Fetachinni alfredo chicken was dry... and chicken taste microwaved. Took a few bites and immidiatly upset our stomachs. Went back and the owner wouldnt own up to howbad the food was preped and tried to blame it on the hot weather. this place is so nasty. they reuse the food from catering and send it to the deli to make 12 different things. they relabel the... expired stuff. they don't clean between ANYTHING (mildew). after working there I refuse to eat there and tell everyone thesame. they made us wipe the mold off the sausages and put them back. made me so sick I just went home and never came back. Stopped in early on a Friday evening during Christmas time. Very nice decor to greet you upon entering. Very friendly and... attentive staff. We practically had the place to ourselves. Nice selection of beers and wines. We started out with fresh housesalads. Delicious house dressing, not too heavy. My wife had the Gnocchi Ala Vodka . Good sized portion. She had 2 meals outof it. I went for one of the specials. Red Snapper with Shrimp. A very good sized filet. Over a bed of pasta with the Francaisesauce on it. Delicious. I also had 2 meals out of it. My wife had Tartufo for dessert, I went for the house made Lemon Ice.Served in a frozen lemon skin. Very unique and delicious. I loved Lombardi's. Greeted by friendly staff, seated right away. Paul our waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu and specials. ... Restaurant had social distancing in place. Food was excellent. Food is always delicious and portions are hearty. I love the beef bracciole over rigatoni. The bread basket with seasoned oil... and the house salad are nice additions to every meal. Dessert and wine selections are also plentiful. Servers and the owner,Vittorio, are friendly and never rush patrons. The service was wonderful. Food pricey but fantastic. Ossobucco a rare delicious treat. Ricotta cheesecake was not pleasant... texture and disappointing, as was what they call hazelnut chocolate mousse, but Tiramisu was perfect. Oh, & skip the calamari,little chewy, over breaded. Read more
