Honestly it was a mixed experience. For a fine dining restaurant, the food quality was a bit suspect. The Chicken Parmesan was... cold and the beef in the beef stroganoff was tough and grissley. We had them replace the chicken parmesan and it came outsteaming hot the second time. On the plus side, the service was great from Charlie. The portion sizes were huge. I wish therewere more mashed potato/vegatable sides. A lot of pasta choices. The Chicken Marsala was one of the better dishes, but thepasta was pretty al dente. The farm burger with the sunny side egg (see picture) was really good. Pesto Pappardelle was alsogood. We added 3 jumbo shrimp for an extra $9 (ouch), but they were delicious. A couple of side notes: It was my daughters 25thbirthday, but we were told that they don't do anything special for birthdays. That really surprised us, I just assumed abirthday desert maybe? No fresh bread was offered. Again I found this surprising for a high end dining place. Drinks weregood, especially the orange bourbon. HIDDEN GEM! This restaurant is a hidden gem in Dane County. My fiancée and I went here for an anniversary dinner and all our... food was amazing. Their outdoor patio is huge. We went on a Monday and still made a reservation. The patio was packed withpeople and I would highly recommend a reservation for the weekend based on how busy it was for a Monday. The wait staff andservers were incredibly knowledgeable of the menu. Pictured is the Chicken Parmesan. Not pictured is the Brussels Sproutsappetizer (not super oily like a lot of restaurants, this is a hard feat to pull off without burning them or making them tastegross). Good food in a nice atmosphere. Fish tacos were huge! Gnocchi was decent. Old Fashioned was a bit watered down.
We loved everything! Pan fried lake perch was so delicious and risotto with lots of veggies was divine. Lots of nice seating... upstairs, and stairs have good handholds and are not steep or narrow. Half price appetizers until 5:30. We will be back to sitoutside on patio on a nice evening : ) Read more
this place is amazing. the atmosphere is so cozy and beautiful, the service is wonderful, and they have delicious drinks and... impeccable food. it was SO hard for me to pick what i was going to have for dinner. there is so much history in the stamm house;i love how they include it- even on the back of their menu! everybody who works there is so friendly and warm. we will certainlybe back for another date night in the near future.
