I don't know why this particular Shawn's has the worst customer service & the most impolite staff! I can't tell if it's just... because people in Middletown/Newport RI are just rude in general or if this store finds pride in hiring the least friendlypeople they can find! Maybe the hiring managers don't care about their customers or standards I don't know! From sayingliterally nothing to customers short of a few grunts, having AirPods in their ears so they can't communicate effectively theyare just rude! Additionally, expecting the customer to bag their groceries or pushing pregnant women out of the way in themiddle of their transaction to start another customers transaction this place is the worst place to come for any service, avoidif possible! Go to stop and shop or Market Basket if possible! Read more

Found hard to find mincemeat pie filling in abundance, and it was on sale!! Lots of sales on things I needed, saving almost 40%... of my bill! They are working hard to keep shelves full this holiday week. Read more

Shaw's is great in the sense that they usually a wide-range of food that is regularly stocked. However, I needed a refund for... some milk I bought and was told by the cashier to go to the service desk.. which was closed.. at 4pm. I'm then walking aroundhelplessly looking for someone to help me and come across the manager and he points me to self checkout for a woman to help(cannot remember her name). She ruined my entire shopping experience. I was already flustered because I had my 3-year-oldtoddler flipping out and she was rude and dismissive of my issue. Basically told me I shouldn't have gone to her when thecashier could've handled this - then proceeded to go ask the cashier about this issue and came back and said "yeah, she doesn'tremember you".... WHAT. In the end I got my refund after lots of huffing & puffing, but please for the love of jeebus, do NOTwork in customer service with such a poor attitude. Plenty of other work out there... We usually shop in Barrington but since my husband had an appointment at the VA clinic in Middletown we went here. I have... used the App for a long time with no problem. None of our discounts came out. Reluctantly the cashier applied my 'Just for u"discounts. We still lost nearly $25 in discounts. On a pension it matters. The cashier said that I had not checked thediscounts. When she demonstrated, the discount (as I knew it would) went down below the line and is crossed out. Think I willstick to shopping in Barrington. Read more

I was in the checkout lane singing and playing with my 1 year old child, when i began loading the belt with my stuff. I placed 2... spindrift packs on top of a pack of mason jars. Somehow, this triggered the belt to keep moving and the cashier (Peggy) becamevery flustered and upset at me. At this point, i hadn't said a word. All i wanted was to help so i held my stuff back thinkingall she needed to do was press a button to make it stop moving. She proceeded to pick up one of my spindrift packs and move it(more like a throw; my sodas are all shaken up) off the mason jars and tell me (in a not so kind voice) that i can't stackthings like that. How was i supposed to know? Did she have to throw my cans like that? Did she have to be rude and unkind? Iquietly packed ALL of my goods from the belt back into my cart and went to another cashier (Ivy) who was extremely polite andkind (5 stars for Ivy). We all have bad days (i was a cashier, too), but i was unaware of these "stacking" restrictions andhadn't said a word to her. Peggy was very apologetic to the person in front of me whose peach was caught between the scanner andmy mason jars. ???? Read more

They have lobster sell today, $7.99 per pound. We got 3 live lobsters, and they can steam for you. Less than $40, 3 fresh... lobsters, very delicious, much better and cheaper than a seafood restaurant. Read more
