I was very excited to try this place as I was really looking forward to a more authentic menu than the typical Chinese... restaurant. The menu did have interesting selections along with the fried rice / sesame chicken type usually. I ordered a cup ofwonton soup as this IS The Dumpling House. I was disappointed by the 'nothing special-ness' of it. For my main dish, I orderedthe Stir Fried Pork Kidneys. It filled my desire for something unusual and never had bfeore. It was tasty, nice and hot withcrisp, fresh vegetables. It had plenty of heat as well. My only issue with it was the 1/4 inch of oil it was soaking in. Imentioned and was told it had to be there. Order cumin tofu, mapo tofu and hot and sour soup. The cumin tofu was deep fried and then stir fried in chili oil with a lot of... cumin. It was delicious. The mapo tofu was made from firm tofu instead of soft tofu and each piece was cut too large and therewas no mince pork in it. The hot and sour soup tasted good. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area. We only tried a few dishes and they were all tasty: basic steamed... dumplings, steamed dumplings in chili sauce, two large chive and egg dumplings, and cucumbers in chili sauce. I forgot to askfor my dumplings fried, but they were still delicious. The dough is a little thicker than I usually prefer, but surprisingly itdidn't bother me at all. The dumplings in chili sauce were a favorite, the sauce was so delicious we used it on the plaindumplings insteadof the dipping sauce. Placed our order around 5pm on a Thursday evening and it was ready is less than 15minutes. Note that goggle directions sent us to the back of the building for some reason, if the same happens to you just looparound the block. Prices are basically on par with general Chinese take-out places. Read more
