What a great spot. I went there from out of town on a rainy Tuesday night at 9:30pm, and I had one of the best shepherds pie and... fun, friendly, and genuine service from Sandy through the rest of the night. So glad I got to check the place out after readingthe reviews before me. Great food, cool vibe, and chill employees. And I don't usually leave reviews. Go here! Read more

Food was okay, over salted and greasy but whatever, it's a pub. Drinks were good, menu was huge with several guest ale options,... and the price was on the sweeter side of decent. But the service was dreadful. On a Sunday night with more than half the tablesempty and only about half a dozen at the bar, it took forty minutes to get a drink order in, twenty minutes to get them, andfollowing that another forty five minutes before soups came out and thirty minutes later the main courses arrived. At the table, there were two orders of fish and chips, one mac and cheese bowl, an order of chicken tenders, and a salad, none of which areTHAT complicated. Ridiculous holdup for what was essentially mediocre-even-for-a-bar food. Not to mention the biggest faux pasof the night was the bartender turning off the Phillies NLCS victory celebration to put on an out-of-market football game onevery one of the televisions in the joint. The entire bar was furious, some even left so the manager ought to have a chat withher about how much money she let walk out the door that night, and our table personally vowed never to come back unless we hadtwo hours to kill for one round of drinks. Wow!! I chose to try this restaurant for dinner and I don't know if I can't accurately describe just how delicious our food was!... I had to go Irish for obvious reasons, so I selected the Shepherd's Pie and the flavor was off the charts! The gravy was richand thick, the mashed potatoes were creamy and the beef tender. You can tell it's homemade. My guest had the fish and chips andthe fish was flaky and lightly battered. We both started with the Scottish Wedding Soup which was so good, I had to have asecond cup! The meatballs were so soft and tasty and the broth had so many layers of flavor! There's a nice, relaxed atmosphereand the staff were very friendly. Highly, highly recommended!! Read more

I would really like to have given this Pub a better score but I had a bad experience there. Attended a show at the Levoy Theater... directly across the street. We arrived at the Old Oar at 5 pm for an 8 pm show. Everything started out fine as we were seated inthe beer garden immediately and the waitress took our drink order. The menu is pretty good and there is a large selection ofbeers and some specialty drinks. We got our drinks and an appetizer of wings all which were good. The place however was fairlybusy because of the show. I will say it was busy but I have seen places operating under busier situations. They had two serversfor the entire place doing the seating, serving food and bartending. We waited until 7:30 and still had not received our food. There were several tables around us who had been there before us . They got some of their food at around 7:15 pm but not all ofit. They apparently only had one kid in the kitchen was also the story going around though we were never told exactly what wasgoing on. The server was sending people who came in after us to another place or just sending them away. We asked about our foodand the server did not seem to have any idea what our order even was much less have it. Our order consisted of a hamburger and apulled pork sandwich. They couldn't get us that in almost 3 hours. Like I said I would have liked to give this place a thumbs upbut it was a total disaster they must have known they would be busy considering they are about the only place open on the streetand directly across from the theater. I would hope someday I have a chance to actually try their food but beware of theirservice. Read more

What a disappointment! When we entered, we were told they were under staffed and we couldn't have a table and had to sit at the... bar. This was not a problem. Our bar tender/waitress was wonderful and very pleasant. However, we didn't mind the long wait forour food, but it came out lukewarm/cold. The worst part... I bit into the last onion ring and there was a hair in it. Wecouldn't finish our food and called all of this to the attention of our wait staff. The cost of our food was taken off ourbill. People were actually told they could not be served due to lack of staff. What a shame! This was our first time... Ihesitate to go back. Read more

Popped in for an early pub dinner before an event nearby. Service was poor...maybe because we weren't regulars. Drinks never... arrived until i asked for them and it was the wrong beer and no water as ordered. One burger came out under cooked but we werenever checked on until we had to flag down our server for the check so it wasn't even an option to send it back as the otherguest had finished. Maybe it was a one time fluke but certainly not the best or even a good experience. Read more

Wonderful South Jersey gem! Diverse and accepting crowd, Mike Trout jersey on the wall. Impressive, robust tap list but also... liquor drinks and importantly a quality kitchen. In house corned beef sandwich is exceptional and worth the try for lunch ordinner. Detected that the bar serves a lot of couples of all ages a weekly food & drink, which ya gotta love. Will definitely bereturning when I?m driving through. Read more
