Reviews for Botanas II Mexican Restaurant in Milwaukee, WI

Ultimately just a disappointing experience. Asked waiter for gluten free menu options and after watching him run to and fro for... near five minutes (presumably looking for menu options) he returned and said that they had no gluten free menu (even though ifyou search online, it says they do).......when food did arrive, it was quite honestly no more than ordinary. Very little in theway of special flavors......I saw another comment saying as such, but yes, this is a very noisy restaurant. It's hard to hold atable conversation with a group of people......let's not even get into an auto-billed 18% gratuity. We have enjoyed the otherBotanas in town, but can't imagine returning to this location. Read more

Great Mexican food in a great location! Good chips and salsa. Entrees were also above average! Service was very good!

You know, for Milwaukee Mexican food, this was not bad. I came with a friend, so the company was good. The service was fast.... They kept my water glass full. We sat outside, as we were warned that there were bees, and if the bees bothered us too much, wecould just move inside. (Only one bee came by us, so we sat still and tried not to anger is, and we actually think it was ayellow jacket.) The food was more flavorful than I expected. The spice was a mild mild, but it's made for the Midwest. Thesalsa was smoky, but very mild. The chips were made from scratch. I had the mini chimi and cheese enchilada combo. It was good.Lots of cheese. It came with a slice of tomato. Didn't totally understand why it wasn't chopped up. Rice was bland. Beans werepretty standard. I'd come again to hang out with friends. I still prefer Arizona Mexican and New Mexican food. Read more

Authentic Mexican food does not have cheddar cheese on the enchiladas or burritos. The beans are not fresh they are canned beans... also the salsa. You can taste it. The corn and steak were good. The rice was average. Read more

Honestly the best steak tacos I?ve had in my life. Nice charred steak yum. The chicken was juicer than any chicken you?ve ever... eaten. And the salsa they serve tastes like they picked the ingredients from their garden and served same day. Amazing. To topit all off it the margaritas are thicker than a snicker. A must try! Read more

We have been picking up food here for quite a while. I'm not a big fan of Mole sauce, prefer Rojas sauce--but that is not... available, why I have no idea. I'm a sauce freak & we have always asked for extra sauce on the enchiladas & a 8oz. container ofmole on the side. They charged us $1.50 for a little extra sauce on each dinner & $5.00 for this container of sauce on theside. Understandably, we had no problem paying extra for the extra container, even a little more for the extra little bit onthe enchiladas--but this seemed a little too much. Totally understand inflation, but $5 for this container of mole and $1.50for xtra on each dinner (which doesn't amount to much).....NO. Why no Rojas sauce?? We will have to rethink where we pick upMexican food for future. Getting a little too expensive. Read more
