I wanted to honor the effort to upscale the food options in downtown Waukegan so I picked up two sushi rolls for dinner from the... food truck. $25.00. The employee was a young teenage American woman. She was very nice but not what I expected to see as a sushichef although very accomplished at processing payment and tip. Presentation was very nice, but this was the worse sushi I evertasted. The crispy role was $14 and soggy with no taste or texture. Everything tasted refrigerated. Nothing fresh. No thank you. My favorite sushi in Milwaukee (Maybe even anywhere)! Who knew amazing sushi could come from a food truck? My husband & I... absolutely love it here. The Brewers sushi burritos, Dragon rolls, Dumplings, Spicy Tuna & boba tea are my favs, but reallyeverything on the menu is great.\n\nI\'m also very picky with seaweed wraps, because some places have hard to chew & overlytextured. I don\'t have that problem at Modern Maki! Their shrimp is always so tasty & crispy in the Dragon rolls, that itcould be one of my favorite shrimps ever. But probably my absolute favorite thing about this place is the rice in the sushi!It\'s always made for perfection. So soft & magnificent.\n\nI highly recommend! Read more
Excellent food! Outdoor seating. Seemed like a long wait; was comparable wait time to a restaurant (10-20 minutes).
i never order ramen online for delivery because im worried it wont taste the same as in the restaurant ,But OMG when i tell you... to go ahead please do ! it was wonderful the broth was literally steaming hot when i got it .the flavor was beautiful .i dontknow if it was the fast delivery or general care of the product but i will definitely order delivery ramen from here again !KUDOS i would send a photo but i ate it all . Great sushi! Usually most places put more rice than fish. At Modern Maki you definitely get a lot more fish than rice. I... ordered the Packers Burrito. The sushi was really fresh. Very flavorful and great textures all wrapped up. I highlyrecommend! Read more
Update: sushi burritos are bomb and I come here at least once every two weeks. It\'s my favorite to go place!\n\nI love this... food so much. The rolls are amazing, even the california roll which is imitation crab and I usually don\'t like that. The smokedsalmon was killer and the spicy tuna is so flavorful. The people that work there are so kind and work hard to make it a goodexperience. I will keep coming here, especially during quarantine. Can\'t wait to try a sushi burrito! Read more

The Good: Reasonably fresh sushi. Decent tasting. As a sushi fan, and someone who used to work in a sushi restaurant, it?s... nothing special, but it is good enough. So you?re safe there.\n\nThe Bad: Rude customer service. Has an attitude. Acts like theydon?t want to be there.\n\nI came this Sunday afternoon to the Zocalo Food Truck Park. This was my first time visiting the park,and I was hoping to get a good first experience. I walked through the park and selected the sushi truck. It was not busy at all.I read the menu and ordered. The tone the customer service person took with me was ?you?re inconveniencing me. Hurry up. I don?teven want to be dealing with you right now.? To clarify that was not what the person said, that was tone of voice. When I wentto pay, they handed me the tablet, said ? you can leave a tip but you don?t have to? at a volume that I could barely hear, whilethey were looking off to the side as if I did not exist. I went to complete my transaction on the tablet. I only pressed onebutton before they tried to rip it out of my hands. I had to snatch it back from them and say ?I?m trying to leave a tip.? Nosorry, no thank you, no nothing. The only reason why I tipped is I assume when I?m tipping at something like a food truck thatthe tips are divvied up among all the employees, and I don?t want to punish other people for this one person?s awful, rude, andcondescending attitude.\n\nAs a trans person with a disability, when I go out into the world I don?t need any extra trouble. Idon?t need someone talking down to me. My life is already hard enough. All I want to do is to get through my day with no drama,be civil to other people, and be treated civilly in return.\n\nThese interactions stress me out, and so I left the food park ina hurry, blowing off a sweet man who tried to ask me about my Boston Terrier.\n\nI will never go back to this food park.
