Absolutely delicious food! Hospitality from the was awesome! Friends and I came from Toronto, Canada for a convention and... decided to visit "On the Bayou" for food and was amazed by the quality and taste. The Catfish and grits was delicious and wascooked perfectly. We also had the Seafood gumbo which was just amazing as well as the restaurant special Seafood poutine withcrawfish and scallops. If you're in the Milwaukee area please pay "On The Bayou" for a genuine taste and experience ofCreole/Cajun food Read more

Disappointed. Limited menu. Was told signature dish-shrimp n grits weren't available because they had no grits. Fried green... tomatoes were tasteless and not breaded well. After hearing so many good reviews sadly my experience wasn't. Read more

Would leave zero stars if I could. Waited 2 hours with a small group that has reservations weeks in advance. When we showed to... our private dinner not a flame was lit. Nothing was prepped it was like they were shocked a group showed up. No chef or waitercame out to apologize. As a people we have to do better. Read more

The atmosphere is so calming and welcoming. Everyone there treated me as family and I’m so excited of the things that they... have planned for the restaurant and I will be back and bringing others. The seafood gumbo was so savory the consistency in thebrew was amazing the shrimp were large and clean I was more than satisfied. I also enjoyed their Hurricane and a tequila sunriseand I was buzzed and satisfied! I can’t wait to come and experience more from On the bayou! Read more

I had the pleasure to share my birthday dinner with some great friends and the wonderful, caring staff at On the Bayou. Even... though it was not on the menu Janice and Greg were more than willing to accommodate my request for a Creole style crawfish boilfor me and my guests. In terms of the food, there was nothing that didn't exceed my expectations. We had the poutine as anappetizer which stacked up well against other poutines I've had. The cheese on the poutine was fried with corn and we enjoyedthose cheese-corn bites so much we ordered another, separate order of just them. Dare I say I enjoyed them more than standardWisconsin cheese curds? The main crawfish dish came out hot and delicious. Compared to other crawfish I've had these wereslightly less fresh, but cooked better - to perfection. Its safe to say the chef knew exactly what they were doing. Obviously itis a lot more difficult to get super fresh crawfish in Milwaukee than say, New Orleans so I really can't take that away from thekitchen staff, especially since it was off menu. As far as drinks go, the wait staff greeted us with a Louisiana Hurricane (wehad little say in the matter, lol). The drink was too sweet for my taste, but I feel as though that is authentic as this was asouthern-style diner. Sweet tea, anyone? Nonetheless, I finished the drink. Once Walter (our waiter) found out it was mybirthday he brought me a nice pour of whiskey, and I nursed that throughout the rest of the meal. Ambiance in the restaurantwas set really nicely. Murals of Bourbon Street were set inside actual windows from New Orleans complete with faux balconiesthat gave the dining room a very Mardi Gras feel. The group could feel the care that the owners put into the place. Upongetting ready to leave I'm pretty sure the entire restaurant staff came out to say goodbye. It was the most genuine display ofSouthern hospitality I've ever experienced. From when we stood up to leave until when we finally left I'd say it wa Read more

I plan to go to New Orleans this fall so I went to the Taste Of New Orleans at the full entertainment venue at On The Bayou. If... New Orleans cuisine is half as good as On The Bayou I am in for an amazing trip. The food is tasty filling and a proudrepresentation of New Orleans. The Cuisine Tasting Menu featured Shrimp ???? and Grits. The grits were slightly firm the way Ilike it with a great combo of spices (with me you can never go wrong with shrimp or grits). I also had the Cajun CocktailShrimp, Crawfish Etouffee, Bourbon St. Steak Kebobs, Deep Fried Steak Kebobs, Deep Fried Salmon Bites, Blackened Catfish(deboned), Mardi Gras Veggie Wings (all veggie including squash). What an amazing experience. I love station-style dining. Eventhe pre-music brought me back to the times of the Commadors, Keith Sweat and other R&B legends. The highlight of the eveningwas Chris Crain and Mels Spears. They are chemistry at it's finest. I heard they are on YouTube and 98.3 FM. It is so nicethat I had an uplifting evening and cannot wait to come back to On The Bayou. Be safe and I will see you there. Read more
