We had a wonderful brunch. Nothing was lacking during our visit. The coffee was delicious and the food choices were a notch or... two away from the norm in all the best ways. This family run place hits on all cylinders. Everywhere you look and everyone youspeak with is packed full of character. What a gem! We started our weekend visit to Milwaukee with dinner here and was thoroughly impressed. Old, vintage dining room... and bar with tons of character and charm. The food was all quite impressive, app, salad, and entrees, but especially thedessert bars. Service was friendly and attentive without being fussy. I very much enjoyed my dinner here. I had the Surf and Turf, and it was delicious. The steak was practically the consistency of... butter, and the lobster risotto was also excellent. The cocktails and wine are very good. Staff is passionate about food anddrinks and it shows in the quality. I look forward to going back. Read more
We went to The Original last evening for a friends 40th birthday. I can’t say enough about how phenomenal the entire... experience was. The owner, Craig, was our waiter and he was superb! He was fun, knowledgeable, and laid back. His nephew washelping him serve us and clear the table and he did a great job! The cocktails were fantastic and the food was incrediblyflavorful and outstanding! We were there for over 3 hours and loved every minute. The patio area is beautiful and Craig alsoshowed us the intimate indoor seating area and introduced us to the bartender who is also family. Love this restaurant. Love thestaff and food and drinks. I really appreciate that we could make reservations specifically for patio seating. The service was great and the Sunday brunch... menu has something for everyone. The food is a step above many brunch places. It’s in the details: the griddle toasted breadon the BLT, the perfectly poached eggs, and the blanched onions on the salad. True definition of a family establishment. It is incredibly impressive what this team churns out. Craft cocktail selection is... impeccable - Black Manhattan on menu or Vieux Carré off…you’re welcome. Service is both attentive but also engaging andconversational, be open and try something new here, it’s worth it. Everything is clearly prepared fresh and with the highestquality ingredients. I would post about the meal but am sure their menu changes over regularly, but in the event you can get it,definitely check out the short rib, Brussels sprouts, leak and potato soup, duck, perfectly seared scallops/orderanything. I adore the Original. My partner lives across the street and I’d been wanting to try it for awhile, but tonight we finally... stopped in! Everything about our experience was marvelous, from the impeccable food to the gracious hospitality from one of theowners. The warm ambiance and small, seasonal menu at the Original is meant to be savored and has clearly been crafted bysomeone who understands how a meal can satisfy not only the body, but the soul.
