We walked in for a drink before a concert at the Armory and were pleasantly surprised with the hospitality, vibe and drinks.... Colton was our bartender and made us feel right at home (ask him for the Blue Barron shot which is to die for). Zia is a superfun spot if you’re looking to belly up at the bar for a a drink, have a night out with friends or to sit at a table and enjoythe vibrant atmosphere and full menu. Wow! My experience here was awful. We stopped here for a quick meal before a concert that had a really long line. Anyway, we had... quick service and were given the menu fairly quickly. The food prices were kind of expensive for bar food, but I figured itwould have to be pretty decent in downtown Minneapolis. There were no drink prices listed, which is always a little sketchy. Weordered our drinks, and they tasted as if they had no alcohol in them. We ordered cheese curds and fried cauliflower becausethere wasn’t a lot on the menu I really wanted to eat. The food came out and the cheese curds were clearly frozen and deepfried. They were still cold inside. Then the cauliflower came out, and it was literally cheese and broccoli nuggets? Not at allwhat was on the menu. We are quickly and tried to get out as fast as possible. We asked the waitress for the check, and then adifferent random sever/manager came over to ask us why we were leaving so quickly. I told him it was due to poor quality,expensive food and also being given food that was not what we ordered/on the menu. He then told me, very sassily, told me toorder some more drinks then. We were eventually given the bill and charged us a 20% gratuity for large groups. There were onlytwo of us dining in, so we did not deserve that gratuity. Came for dinner and drinks before the show. They seem to be severely short staff. Food smells amazing... Not sure if I'll be... able to order before I leave. Been here 20 mins and still waiting to order a drink from the bar. Reading through the reviews,I'm noticing a trend for Sundays. Low-no service, food is good. Read more
Most menu items over-priced. Food quality was fair. Staff friendly and attentive. Did not honor gift certificate and claimed... the new owner (had business for 2 years) did not know the had a certificate program. I saw many low rating reviews but I've also heard through the grapevine that Bar Zia was making a comeback. So I wanted to give... the place a chance today. I placed a takeout order for an ultimate cheeseburger with a side of truffle fries & the house salad.The order was ready to pick up on time. The salad was fine. The burger was not, however. It's supposed to have Aged Cheddar,Bleu cheese, Bacon, Garlic Aioli, Arugula, Onions. It only came with cheddar and was missing everything else! And even then thecheddar was half melted and it's like they used a Kraft singles cheese slice. Half of the slice, actually. The cheese barelycovered the patty. The fries were disappointing too. Seasoned with salt and pepper, and that's it. No truffle oil orparmesan. I had already gotten home by the time I opened up my food to eat it so it was too late to send it back ¯_(?)_/¯ I'mnot sure what happened with my food. If they had run out of ingredients, I wish the restaurant had called me to ask if I wantedto get a different burger or other food item because I definitely would have picked something else. We had a wonderful laid back dining experience here last night. I wish I got the name of our server but she was very hospitable.
I was expecting a low key pizza joint to grab a beer before the Vikings game. We got several. It was delightful. The manager... stopped us on the way out and gave us free drink tokens to come back after the game. We thought we would have a quick slice andgo home. Oh no, don’t let the description fool you. There was no pizza or pasta in sight. Only shots of rumpleminz, an epicDJ, and partying our faces off. Would give 10 stars if I could. Read more
