Lu?s has a really great Bahn Mi, but the overall experience is lacking for me. Online ordering can be problematic, there is... little ability to customize the order, long pick up waits, and I found that oftentimes there are mistakes with my order. Errorsaside, I have not found another Bahn Mi as tasty and satiating as Lu?s. In addition to their sizable sandwiches they have bowlentrees, spring and egg rolls, and a nice selection of drinks. I am not vegan but what?s the time I defer to that kind of turning experience. It was super easy to order and get a very savory... sandwich. The staff was quick and attentive. On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, (between 6:30pm and 7:00pm) I went to have a meal at the Lu's Sandwich Shop on Nicollet Avenue in... Minneapolis. I absolutely will not be going there again. I ordered a noodle salad. I wanted the pork, but was told bluntlythere was no pork. So, I settled for the beef. When the salad was ready, everything about it was terrible. The beef was dry,overcooked, poorly seasoned, and with there were quite a few pieces with large chunks of inedible gristle. My noodles were warm,but the beef and everything else was cold?which is pretty much the opposite of what I expect when I order Bún Th?t. Despitewhat Lu's menu suggests, my salad did NOT include peanuts, cilantro, mint, or green onions. When ordering I was asked whichsauce I wanted. When I asked what the options were (as they are not listed on the menu) the distracted server mumbled theoptions too quickly and quietly to be understood. When I asked her to repeat the options, she was visibly annoyed and impatient,but then she did not speak any louder or slower the second time around, so I just took a guess and asked for fish sauce. Itwasn't until after my order was rung up that I was told the accompanying egg roll would not be ready for three minutes?so Iasked if she would bring it out, and she said she would. When the egg roll was ready TEN minutes later, she almost inaudiblycalled for me to come to the counter and get it. I went to get it, brought it to my table, and then realized I had to go back upand ask for dipping sauce. Finally, I had ordered a fountain soda with my meal. But, there was no ice in the ice dispenser, soI had a cup of lukewarm root beer with no ice. I made two attempts to contact the shop via the email form on the web page. Always tastes great with fresh fixings however their bun has been at times too hard to bite into and I only know once I get... home. By that time it is useless to turn back to ask for a replacement. However, when everything is fresh, it is perfect! Hence,the 4 stars. Read more

Came in knowing and loving the Nicollet location and expecting the same quality and received the polar opposite instead. I... ordered 2 bahmis and a smoothie. I received a dry log with absolutely no mayo. I ordered extra pate on both, didn't get it.Diecon were barely pickled, pate was chunky, skimped on the jalapenos. Smoothie was at least blended well but had no flavor andover priced. Also when I was handed my order the employee was snappy and had an attitude. I for one will not be returning. Read more
Lu?s serves up some of the best sandwiches in the city, giving Minnesotans a taste of an authentic Vietnamese Bahn Mi. The pork... is tender and richly flavored with ginger and lemongrass. The veggies are crisp and fresh, providing a much needed texturalvariation to the sandwich. Finally, the bread is pillow soft on the inside but still has a gorgeously crispy exterior. The eggrolls are also tasty with a deep umami flavor inside and a perfectly browned, flaky outside. Grand Opening at new location at U of Minnesota; 309 SE Oak St, Minneapolis, MN 55414. I was second customer on opening day.... Staff was friendly. Cafe was open and inviting. Banh Mi sandwich was good but not great. Got the large 9 inch which was pricedat $10+. Baguette is supposed to have a crisp crust but this crumbled when eating. Also, the grilled beef was very dry.
