I so miss this place. It was located in Matteson, IL, but now its in Mokena. Larry and Connie who are the owners are so humble... and friendly. I was surprised they remembered us from many years ago from us visiting often the Matteson location. The food isalways delicious and our sever; she was awesome. You guys are the best. Very very good! Though I'm still not sure how the 10oz filet is 48 and the surf n turf is 142. Must be a heck of a lobster. Also... I'd suggest they add options for steak enhancers like red wine sauce or at least maitre de butter... Read more
First time going here for my birthday, it was very nice inside and staff was extremely friendly. Overall the food was good but a... little pricey. The steak was ordered medium and came out medium rare. The double baked potato was good but seemed to be missingsomething. The veggies were sub par. Mr. Benny's has been a go to steakhouse in my family for decades. My parents had their wedding reception at the original... location in Matteson in the late 80's. Numerous holidays and special occasions were enjoyed by all, dining at this fineestablishment. However, it has NEVER been the same since they moved to Mokena. The first time I tried the new location waswithin weeks of it's grand opening. I ordered the baked clams as an appetizer and they were still frozen on the inside. Lastnight I decided to give them a second chance. It was our anniversary and we wanted to celebrate with some fine dining. The dirtymartinis were perfect! Everything went downhill from there. We ordered two appetizers; the wedge salad and oysters Nicholas. Wewere told that the oysters were just like Rockefeller. They were not. They had blue cheese in them which overpowered the oysterand spinach! At least they weren't still frozen. The wedge salad had way too much dressing on it. We split the Delmonico Ribeye.It was ok, but definitely not worth $49. We upgraded the potato to twice baked. It was room temperature and would not melt thebutter. The flavor was fine, but for a $230 meal for 2, I expect my food to be served hot. The ambiance and service (Laura)weregreat, but the kitchen needs to step up their game. It saddens me to say, but I will not be returning. Too many other options inthe area doing a much better job. Read more
