Scala del nonna feels nostalgic. From the moment you walk in this place is so inviting. The food was layered w flavor and love.... Every single dish was perfect. Temperature and flavor. BYOB is also great - there is a liquor store right next store. Onlything we didn?t like is that we had to order everything together. Two people of our party were driving in from out of state andwere running late so we wanted to order apps for the table and they wouldn?t let us. Read more

Scala del Nonna is my favorite restaurant in NJ! I know this sounds crazy, but in the 10 days we were visiting my family, we... went there 3 times (Don't Judge Me!!!) The food is JUST THAT MOUTH WATERING AMAZING!!!! The raviolis have left an indeliblemark on my heart, the scallops, (just simply yummmmm), the warm walnut tart with ice cream (indescribably delicious, unforgettable one might say). My boyfriend had the pork chops braised in cherry wine sauce. He said they were the best he'sever tasted. The Branzino was a dream in a olive/caper sauce that was to die for. And last but not least... the mushroomrisotto. Truly heaven on a plate. EVERYTHING was amazing. The service could not have been better with our server Jeff. Youmust experience their unique and delicious recipes! Read more

This is such a nice Italian restaurant in Montclair! It?s really nice inside plus it has outdoor seating as well. I recommend... making reservations as it?s always packed even today on Fourth of July every table was taken! I don?t blame everybody forcoming here today on the holiday! I?d much rather dine here then go to a Fourth of July barbecue! Even though they were sobusy the staff was really nice, and my waiter made some great recommendations. They started me with fresh baked bread withsautéed onions, and it was so good! For appetizer I had the lamb and pork meatballs in a light onion and guanciale infusedtomato sauce with whipped ricotta, and that was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend ordering them! They were nice and soft, and thesauce had a great flavor to it! For my entree I had the veal pappardelle con osso buco which was very good! The pasta wascooked perfectly, and it was a nice portion. The desserts were all house made here, and I had the ricotta cheesecake. Ithought that was just ok. I?m really looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes! Prices were pretty reasonable too! Parking wasn?t bad at all because there is large parking garage located in back of the restaurant. I highly recommend diningat Scala Del Nonna in Montclair! We walked into Scala Del Nonna restaurant tonight, no reservation on Valentines Day, hoping to get a table. The hostess was... lovely and extremely accommodating; even graciously complimenting our attire. She allowed us to pick our area of preferencealthough she had reservations coming soon for the rush hour seating. We selected an area upstairs which was romantic, dim litand nicely decorated; a charming modern rustic theme. We had no idea the experience we were about to receive. It was a prefixnight and although I shy away from those, this menu was full of enticing choices from appetizers to the main course. We werestarted off with a quaint combination of bread, olives and fresh mozzarella followed by fresh bread and seasoned olive oil. Thefood in each course invited you to a sensual waltz one favorable bite after another. Each course drawing your interest to thenext. Even the salad was filled with a playfulness of flavor that hummed a medley dance in your mouth. The main course was notonly filling as it was delicious with each bite, melting flavors in your mouth like butter in fire. The portions were asgenerous as they were delectable. The Grande Finale was a compilation of three of their best desserts and it did not disappoint! All served by a very friendly and attentive staff! Scala Del Nonna spared no expense in romantizing customers tonight startingwith the perfect prefix menu to flavorful and exciting dishes and finishing off with the perfect touch of sweet. Read more
