This place was so cute and mellow. I loved the playlist they had playing tonight, it was the right volume for you to enjoy it... and not have to yell to have a conversation, great vibes. Our waiter Alex was great, gave good recommendations and was attentiveto our needs. Definitely would come here again. Went on a Sunday after the brunch crowd. We were told it would be a minute or two wait, but it ended up being 20 minutes. We... were okay with that as we chose to sit outside, and it was a really nice day. (Inside had plenty of open seating and the hostessdid ask if we would rather be seated immediately inside.) We didn’t order drinks and, clearly, our waitress wasn’tthrilled with that choice. We could tell as soon as she took our drink orders. We did, however, order two orders of wings forappetizers. We had three people in our party. We had a food allergy in our party and the waitress didn’t want to be botheredwith a question or two, and kind of threw an attitude about this. Which was VERY disappointing. The waitress forgot to bring outthe requested condiments, and after asking she still forgot them. She also never refreshed our drinks. She did ask if we wantedrefills on our drinks as we were paying our bill - a little late and I think she just didn’t want to be bothered with gettingthem, and knew we would say’ “ no thanks” because we were already gathering our items to leave. The food was served hotand looked great when it came out, but the burger was slightly under seasoned. The meatloaf definitely was under seasoned, butthe food was pretty good otherwise. The cauliflower that was served with the meatloaf was cooked from a frozen mix and had zerosalt or seasoning on it. Pulled pork sandwich came out buttered (even though we requested it dry due to the food allergy.) Thefries were crispy and creamy in the middle - the best part of our meal. So now we have tried Melville’s in-house and we didtake-out previously. Ironically, take-out was over salted. So, maybe it is consistency that needs to be looked at. I will saythat those with drinks looked happy and seemed to really be enjoying their meal. Maybe we should have just stuck with a mimosaor two. The atmosphere was really nice; I love the big windows! The server was really attentive and friendly; she will come once in a... while to check whether we need anything. The food was great, I think it was the best mozzarella stick I had (the size was sohuge though). The blackened shrimp salad was pretty awesome as well; I love the grapefruit and the pistachio combination, asthey add a unique flavor to the salad. I actually came here for the duck pizza because I had been craving for ducks for a while.I never had this kind of pizza before; besides duck leg, there was marmalade on the pizza. The sweetness of the jam fitsperfectly well with the duck. Although it was a bit pricey, but the restaurant did put a generous portion of meat on thepizza. I would want to revisit this place. Nice cozy place with great food !!! We stopped at Melville Tavern on the way to the Cannery Row, Monterey California. We had... dinner and it was delicious. I had the Millville burger which was very good and generous portion, we also tried the cheese cakeas a desert. Read more
Our server was very kind and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was nice. Our server was tasked with too many tables, though. We had... to wait to get water, didn't hear back about the food, and we had to wait for the check. My wife and I shared a deep friedartichoke hearts appetizer, which was good. My wife had the meatloaf. I liked it, though it was covered with sautéed mushrooms,which she hates, and the menu didn't mention them. My entree was herb crusted locally caught salmon that was supposed to have atarragon and Dijon mustard crust on the outside and medium rare on the inside. The salmon was not crusty, rather soggy withsauce, which tasted neither like mustard nor tarragon, and was cooked 'medium.' Both entrées came with garlic broccoli andwhipped potatoes. The broccoli was perfect cooked for us, and the mashed potatoes were a bit runny. All-in-all, I don't thinkthe food was worth the wait or the price. Read more
