Wow.. this place was so good! We got to sit in the back under the beautiful glass canopy! Our server Juan was so attentive and... we NEVER had a low glass of water the entire time. It was amazing! VERY PRICEY! But a beautiful dinner! The only thing I wasn'tin love with was the abalone bisque. The flavor was incredible, but the bits of abalone were tiny and hard. The texture waslike gristle. This restaurant is the highlight of our trip to Monterey. At first we thought it is just a touristy restaurant due to the name... and fishing boat out front, but the inside is actually very classy. We got a center table in the greenhouse, which compares wellwith some of the best hotel restaurants we have been to. The food was excellent. We would love to come again. Read more
I took my family this time and we had an awesome time eating here! Just the place itself is amazing. Lots of character, and very... unique rooms for your party or mood. That alone sets the ambiance and appetite for a fine dining experience. The food is alwaysfantastic, exquisite and one of the best in the area. You will keep coming back and it will always feel like it's your firsttime, a must see restaurant if you visit Monterey. Read more
Excellent food, seafood is prepared and served just right! Friendly staff. Have been going here for years for special occasions.... Even when the kids were little, they behaved because they wanted to eat there. Higher-end so $$$$ but for us, worth theoccasional treat. No fancy mocha drinks for a few weeks would pay for dinner! :) Read more
Great Monterey experience! The sardine factory has a lot of character inside. The dining experience was fantastic. We got to see... it in the Glass atrium. We ended up getting the seafood platter appetizer. It was nice to taste all the different seafood. Ourfavorite was the sardines. Read more
We got a table in the most amazing garden room - the interior is just stunning. The service was very friendly and... competent. Having a dinner there is a great treat to yourself as everything we tried was just delicious. We shared escargot andseafood boat appetizers, finishing by calamari steak and ahi tuna. Sardines Factory is an interesting restaurant in Monterey, California. I would give 5 stars to Spencer (the manager), the... ambient and service. Steve was so kind to show me the special dinning room in the basement and shared some of the interestinghistory of the restaurant. However, I am willing to give only 3 stars because of the food. The Escargot tasted fine but thebread base was a bit too much. The Center-Cut Wild Abalone Medallion was poor. It had no favor and the texture was poor. Thefavor of the Rack of USDA Prime Colorado Lamb was a bit too complicated for me. The mustard sauce on top was a bit heavy. Iwould enjoy a glass of wine in the bar but not for the food. Read more
I saw this place on TV back in England on a Rick Stein show, and have thought about it ever since. Finally, probably 10 years... later we got the chance to try the food and soak up the atmosphere. From trying cocktails at the bar, to being seated in therestaurant, I loved it all. And then then came the food. We love seafood, and this was some of the best I've ever eaten. Fullstop. Period.
