The food here is outstanding and the locals clearly know it. I rarely give 5 stars. This deserves 5 stars and the miso broiled... fish, will make your eyes twist. The sushi is of great quality for this price point. I've definitely had better, but that'susually for a multi course $100+ omikase. Eat this deliciousness. Taihei is great: Convenient. Clean. Traditional. Super friendly and personable chefs. Staff is hard working. Tip: Gets busy... later on so go early. They do tons of take out. Longevity of ownership and location ++ Consistency at all levels. Quality foodand drink. Reasonable prices. The not so great: This review may generate too much business and we'll have to find somewhereelse to go. Thems the breaks though. Read more
Best sushi restaurant in the SGV area in my opinion. I've been coming here for over 20 years and I personally love it here. The... people who work here are friendly, professional, and absolutely awesome!! The food is also very fresh and delicious, trulyauthentic. Authentic. Small, with a few booths, tables and a sushi bar. Parking is on the street or in the lot. Great assortment of sushi.... I always get the house special at a good price. Includes choice of sushi, choice of tempura, choice of salmon cheeks or tunaroll, rice and choice of soup. Their fish soup is my favorite. The broth is hot and tasty, and you get plenty of bony fish headsto suck on. Wash it all down with a large bottle of Asahi beer. Green iced tea is a specialty. Doesn't get much better. Read more
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner last month. We shared combo sushi plate (8 pieces of Nigiri & 6 pieces of tuna rolls), 2... hand rolls (blue crab & scallop) & seafood nabemono soup (Yosenabe). I really enjoyed the hand rolls since the seafood was freshand the rice and seaweed complemented perfectly with the seafood for each roll. The sushi pieces were also delicious and fresh.The soup broth was also tasty. The staff nemebers were also really sweet and friendly. ???????? Read more

I didn't know what real sushi tuna was supposed to taste like until I got here. Holy . Moly. Sea urchin and salmon also just... melt in your mouth. But oh my that tuna! We even needed up eating the tempura. We saw this cold thing on the plate. Didn'trealize we were supposed to out it in our sauce :/. Oh well. Next time. Definitely next time. So good. Bit watch the hours hereand your wallet. But definitely worth the price. Read more
