Food was standard Mexican fare, average. Beyond that however, they do not offer free chips and salsa, which is unusual. Also,... beware the 5% service fee quietly tucked into the bottom of the bill. I visited on a Monday in the late afternoon and had a great experience. Previously worked near their location on Nicollet (RIP),... and they provided great service there. Happy to say the Monticello location matches my experience from the Minneapolislocation! Even with a less busy point in the day, the waitstaff was attentive and timely, and not once did I feel out of placeor work to get anyone?s attention. Well attended to environment, clean and orderly, but full of character. The food was good,and I am curious to try more dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed the horchata I ordered, too. It seems there is no complimentary chipswhen you order, which could bum some folks out. I had the #80 and it was absolutely amazing. So creamy and delicious. The problem came with the sides (the only reason I give a... 4 not a 5. The rice side was very dry like it has been sitting in a warmer for a long time uncovered and the refried beanstasted like they came from a can. Since they were just the sides I do not really care that much since the steak #80 I had wassome of the best Mexican I've had in a while. My girlfriend had the #50 (tacos) got 3 for a somewhat decent price. She lovedthem but I wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft pole with how much cilantro was on them. All the cilantro lovers would rejoice aboutthese thought. My girlfriend had nothing bad to say about that what so ever. Overall great experience. Service poor and place was not busy. Chips were the smallest basket I have ever seen. Salsa was bland and had to be asked for,... wasn't given when when sat down. Most places give it upon being seated. Beans and rice tasted old and dry. I asked for a refillon my coke which took ten minutes to get while the restaurant was empty, I then was told my next one would be an extra charge.When I received my bill there was a random value added fee for "service". Absolutely the best Mexican food in the area! Large portions, fast service and drink were great too! Waiters were gracious and... friendly, and ready to help. No waiting for a table as there is a large seating area. Prices were comparable to other Mexicanrestaurants in our area. Read more
Authentic ambiance and feel. The service was great and attentive. The menu was extensive and I really liked the Villa... enchiladas. For our appetizers we enjoyed the fresco guacamole and tamal. The food needed a little salt but that was an easyfix. My only complaint were the quality of the happy hour margaritas. They tasted like limeade and I tasted no alcohol in them.Overall a good restaurant and I would definitely come back. Read more
Where do no begin? The atmosphere is perfect. The staff is friendly and curtious. The food came fast and hot. My husband who... usually does not like eating out was raving. He said if he could give it 10 stars he would. There was A LOT of food for each ofus and the price was awesome. 3 meals and 3 drinks for under $46.00!?!? We were expecting around 70.
