Reviews for Bistro à Jojo in Montréal, QC
Rude bartender who only served us when we went up to the bar forced us to pay a 15% tip and said 15% is mandatory in Quebec. I... understand tips are expected, but they are always optional, and I wanted to tip in cash after receiving the service, andcalculate the amount accordingly. No matter how rude it seems to not tip, or to tip less than 15%, it is not legally mandatedand is optional, so she lied. She was rude and didn't deserve 15% but forced us to pay on the spot. I only found out it isn'tlegal requirement when I googled afterwards. It would've been a different story if she had served us at our tables, like shedid everyone else (with a smile and great manners). This is definitely the result of a culture clash around tips, as Ipersonally find it rude to demand a tip, and she must've found it rude not to receive 15%. I just wish she hadn't lied. Read more
Went for live music and drinks. Had an amazing time listening to rock and roll from a great local band. Security was very polite... and kept us feeling safe. Bartenders were very welcoming. Read more
The music, bartenders and bouncers are great, however I was thrown off by the lack of a dance floor. I was there on a Saturday... night, the band was fantastic, but just seeing everyone sitting and chatting instead of dancing was a waste. Read more
Great bar for live music! Great staff and quick service... **except** for the redhead woman that always charges at least 3 or 4... dollars more than the other staff for a pint, while you also have to wait 20+ minutes for her to finally bring the luke-warmpint that's been sitting at the the bar tap all that time. Response Edit: No, it was the same pint/brand of beer each time, sono excuse for a price difference. It was quite empty that night, and as mentioned, the other staff were quite fast and chargedthe regular price. It's happened any time I've visited. Read more
Unforgettable experience, such a nice bar with great music and drinks
This is a rock bar with live music. The bouncer might look intimidating, but he is such a cool gentleman that stamps a little... seal on your wrist and remains vigilant all the time. Now, the band I listened to was AMAZING; just three dudes rocking withtheir heart, singing in French and English. I only saw happy people, all ages, from two senior friends singing along to groupsof people celebrating a birthday with jars of draft beer and shooters. Just go there, rock on and enjoy! Read more
Just a great blues venue. Awesome performers, service is good and the place is just big enough for everybody to feel close to... the action. Been around forever and it?s one of the reasons I wish I still lived in MTL. Read more
Went here on Saturday night and listened to a band. The music was very good. There was virtually no table service, and it was... so loud that the bartender could not hear my requests. Still, it was a nice place with good feel. Read more
