Love this spot! Their selection of tacos is focused and highlights fresh ingredients prepared in creative ways. The Baja tacos... are a real standout -- fresh, crisp fish with tangy slaw and sauce. I pass by this place every day and had to check it out. Waitress recommended me their classic margarita and it was awesome!... Portions are small but very flavourful. Wasn't sure about the "nachos" when they were being brought to our table (very smallplate and not your typical nachos--they were really more like dumplings with a stuffing inside) but they were very tasty. I always love Escondite but was especially impressed this time around. I booked an online reservation with a group at the minute... but when we arrived at the restaurant, we were informed they were actually all booked for the night. We left disappointed but aswe were making a plan to go elsewhere, the host came out and said that they could squeeze us in if we left by a certain time.That worked for us and we had a great night, with delicious food and drinks - our waitress Jessica was especially friendly andattentive. Tacos were tasty. Nachos 2.0 weren’t great IMO- they were cheese dumplings with nacho toppings.. not terrible by any means but... unnecessary to reinvent the wheel and on the pricey side for $13 for a few bites. Overall a nice ambiance and good food though. Read more
It was my first time at Escondite and I’ve decided to give it a try and celebrate my birthday there. It was amazing! Upon leaving the restaurant one of the male servers stop me and ask the female server if I paid. This is humiliating and... disgraceful. Why? Because I am a person of colour that makes me a thief ? The food was delicious and so were the drinks. I evenbought takeout but after this experience I would not be going back. I am not a thief and to be stop from leaving to verify if Ipaid when I had my takeout bag in my hand is just too much. I dined in and order takeout why would I not pay the bill ? Read more
Unbelievable! Just delicious. Everything we had was incredible. YOU MUST TRY THE NACHOS. My friends highly recommend the shrimp... tacos. Do yourself a favor if you’re in Montreal, make a trip to Escondite Drummond and have a delicious Mexican meal.Margaritas are on point as well. Everything was flaw-free.
