Food is delicious and cheap. Real japanese people work there. Super nice people. There are always lots of tables open so even... loners like me can go there comfortably without suffering from social anxiety ???? But maybe not the healthiest stuff toconsume. note: you can only pay with cash and the place is kind of hard to find Read more

Prices are still very fair for the portions in this economy. Rice cooked perfectly. The curry was just the right amount of sweet... and tang. The katsu was super crispy and tender. Fast and friendly service. You just gained yourself a regular. Read more

Before the pandemic, I used to come here with my coworkers all the time. We walked for 15 minutes, sometimes through the snow,... and into the basement of this office building, just for the food here. The price was astounding, the meal was generous, fillingwithout feeling bloated, and delicious. The owners are very sweet and hilarious, and I look back at those times with joy. Thankyou Japote for the good memories, I'm glad to see that you're still in business. I look forward to my next visit! Read more

Japote is the definition of a hidden gem! Who knew that you can find authentic, delicious japanese food in a basement... eatery? The food is cooked fresh and made to order. Even though they get very busy, the staff is still very friendly and kind.We had a few things on the menu and our favorite is the katsu curry, and eel with egg on rice. All in all, I really recommendthis restaurant. Read more

Very homemade, very cheap and very delicious! Unless someone told about this place, I would never have ventured here. This place... is literally a hidden gem. They have a simple menu yet offers a good variety of choices. I took a half half with chickenteriyaki and miced beef. Both are just delicious and only costs 8.5$. A place worth coming back. PS They only take cash. Read more

Quick and good service. Portions are smaller than what you would normally get (a large don would be maybe 400g of food), but... they are equally as cheap, so you can simply order two dishes to make up for their size, and it'll come back to the same priceas a good old Asian take out. I had the tori-don, and I'd gladly recommend it! Food was delicious! However, they only take cash(prices are calculated so that they're round numbers after taxes, so no need to worry about having to store any extra changelater). Read more
