Reviews for L'Étoile de l'Océan in Montréal, QC
We were treated like second-class clientele. We had made a reservation and arrived on time. There were tables by the window... that suited our 4-person party and they sat us further away. Then they forgot about my husband's meal all together. Tablesthat were seated well after us were served in a timely manner. There was no apology for forgetting my husband's entrée and noapology for it taking so long to get out meals. It may be considered the best restaurant in Brest but I wasn't impressed. Read more
Very slow services. Very crowded and noisy. Calamari rings are from frozen fast food. ?Sorry I thought it was onion ring
My wife and I wanted to have an authentic Portuguese cataplana dish as we've enjoyed it so much when we were in Porto, Portugal.... This resto didn't disappoint and offered a very similar experience! Love the dish and would definitely visit again to try theFisherman's platter. Till next time! Read more
I was very pleased with our first visit here. We were with guests from China and I wanted to give them a taste of Portuguese... cuisine. Food was very good throughout and the decor is really reflective of a typical Portuguese home. Excellent wineselection of private imports at the most reasonable prices I have seen. We will certainly return. Read more
This is a great authentic Portuguese restaurant located near St. Laurent Boulevard in Montreal. I recommend trying the Caldo... Verde and the Chourico a Bombeiro to start. The salted cod dishes like the Bolinhos de Bacalhau and Bacalhau a Braz are myfavorite. The grilled sardines are also a great choice. Its best to finish with a great dessert like Pastries de Nata or PeraBebida accompanied by an espresso. The service was friendly and the restaurant has a family feel. I definitely recommend thisplace. Read more
A very nice place to bring the family. The service was good and homey. The food was only ok. The octopus was over cook and chewy... and the lamb was good but the side were not good. Read more
Hands down, the best bang for your buck around. With so many restaurants dropping their quality these days, including many of... the classics on the Plateau, here's one which undeniably takes pride in what it does. You can hardly believe you're eating sowell, for the price you're paying, especially when it comes to the lunch specials which are all under $20, including entree anddessert. Then again, you know the food is going to be good as soon as you see the regulars - a bunch of older Portuguesegentlemen from the neighborhood. The decor is pleasant, albeit modest. The waiter is knowledgeable, kind, and ever so pleasant.Only thing is, you gotta like fish, as that's what constitutes most of the lunch specials. So, if you wanna eat like a king forunder $25 tax & tip included (before wine), this is the spot. Read more
