After a long busy day with miserable cold/windy weather, we had the most enjoyable evening in a long while. Everything was... excellent from the greeting & coats check at the entrance to the mouth watering desserts we couldn't miss :) The restaurant islocated at the old brick Victorian house with high sealings and chandeliers; the service is impeccable - their servers know thefood and recommend wine pairings really well; the food is outstanding - southern France/ Burgundy at its best and the dessertsare out of this world :)) I strongly recommend this restaurant for anyone craving French food. For those who are interested, wehad the soup of the day and the split pea soup, followed by the duck confit and roasted duck breast. Read more

Can't say anything bad about the service. The female server was really sweet. And we love the food! The shrimp and scallop with... Vanilla sauce was surely a lovely surprise. The pear sorbet with tarragon and white wine was my husband's favourite and it's sorefreshing. We tried the tasting menu and it takes slightly over 2.5 hrs but we love every minute of it. Read more

Classic French food in a gorgeous dining room. This is one of my Father's favorite restaurants when he visits Montreal and he... highly recommended that we check it out on our visit. We were not disappointed. The food was fantastic, the server wasincredibly fun and knowledgeable, and the ambiance was excellent. This was a TRANSCENDANT dining experience. When people talk about Montréal?s incredible food scene, they are talking about this... place. My husband and I decided to go with the prix fixe (?Dégustation?) menu, and while pricey, I can say that had our stay inMontréal included only this meal and nothing else, it would have been entirely worth the trip. Easily one of the best diningexperiences of my life. The smoked salmon was delicious, the crème brûlée fois gras was amazing, but the DUCK BREAST almosthad me jumping up and singing hallelujah?s right there in the middle of the exceptionally French, meticulously decorated diningroom. And I would be remiss not to mention George, our server, who was really more of an expert guide through the 3-hour diningtour that was our 6-course meal (we got the wine pairing option). He was delightful and so enthusiastic about every detail. Incredibly delicious food here at Bonaparte. We did the tasting menu because we couldn't decide on what to get, so having a... sample of several dishes was the perfect way to try everything. You can really tell that everything is made in house andextremely fresh. The mushroom ravioli was my absolute favorite, but all the other dishes were fantastic. Service was very goodand attentive, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere right in Old Montreal. Prices are very fair, it's certainly not cheapbut it wasn't extremely expensive either, I feel we definitely got our money's worth. Highly recommend coming here for someclassic French cuisine. The Ambience is Romantic. The service was really fast and great. Our waiter was very nice. We had the Lobster Salad as a... starter. It was fine. However, the star ? of the dinner was the Duck breasts, meduim rare, which was exquisite. The meat wouldjust melt in your mouth, and it's perfectly paired with some maple syrup sauce.
