I love this place, the staff is always super welcoming. It’s a good place to come as a group as everyone will be able to enjoy... the food they want, breakfast or lunch Universel serves both. The food is what you expect from a brunch place, nothing too fancybut for the price you can’t complain. The potatoes are crispy and seasoned properly. The fresh fruits are good to get somevitamins. Freshly ground black pepper available, it make me feel fancy. Oh I almost forgot the coffee taste great too and youcan get free refill. The lunch menu is a bit more expensive than the breakfast. We visited twice for breakfast in early August 2022. It's a good place and we'd recommend it. We were seated promptly each time... (between 9 and 10 a.m.) and although the servers were busy, they did a good job and were friendly. The coffee was refilledregularly. The first time was really good. We enjoyed some tasty plates of Mexican breakfast burritos which are filled withscrambled eggs, cheese, brown beans, salsa and guacamole and served with absolutely delicious potatoes and pieces if freshfruit. The portions were good and they used quality ingredients. They were generous with the guacamole, too, which is rare forrestaurants these days. Those home fries were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Try them with mayonnaise! Seriously. The secondtime was a bit less memorable, but that's because we ordered boring, standard types of North American breakfasts. The food wasstill good, though, and the portions quite decent. The place played an odd choice of music both times we were there. It waslike early 2000 rap and R&B remixes. A bit weird to hear f-bombs and other objectionable terms being dropped in rap songs whilesipping morning coffee and munching on brekkie at the start of your day. Still. The food was good. Read more

Very nice spot for breakfast, located in the heart of downtown. The freshly squeezed orange juice was fantastic, and... revitalizing. The service was also good. Bringing over the 26 ounce bottle of real Quebec maple syrup for my waffles was a nicetouch. A little bit pricey but what do you expect in downtown Montreal. Read more

Incredibly good, and very welcoming! :-) When I first walked in I was met with great background music, and a friendly bilingual... staff, and three visits later the food quality remained excellent, and the tunes were always pleasant and lively, and they havegreat WiFi, and of all the restaurants I have ever been in, this one has the best ambiance of any, and I look forward to my nextvisit. I had a universel burger. They were generous on the bacon, if you like that! The meat patty really had a charcoal taste. It was... so good. The meat really was the star. Couldn't taste much of the mushroom. For the sides you got a few choices. I had thesweet potato fries. They were really delicious, and their mayonnaise was amazing ! Slightly spicy. Came here with a friend this afternoon. The food was pretty much what you'd expect from a standard brunch place (perhaps a tad... pricey for the quality/quantity..) But the restaurant is super clean and we were well social distanced. Service was good toowith food coming out pretty quick (granted, we did come at 1:00pm and past the lunch rush). Main reason I'd give it 5 stars isbecause our server Ariam was SUPER friendly and welcoming: she'd regularly check in to see how we were doing and was even jokingwith us by the end of our meal. Great customer service from her, and also from the others who would also periodically check byour table and greeted us on our way in/out. Read more
