Even though the restaurant was empty when I arrived, guests sooned followed me. The food was better than I could have expected... in a land locked state. I had albacore, yellow tail, tuna, and miso soup. Everything was wonderful and on time. The staff wasgracious and the owner seems honest and caring. Read more
Worst sushi we have ever had. The fish in the roll did not taste fresh. Rolls were so poorly made, they fell apart when picked... up. The tempura vegetables were good. All the food was pricey for what you got. Read more
Ordered a poke bowl to go and this is what I got. No sauce. No sesame seed. No other vegetables. 11/10 would not recommend.
Hiro has to be our favorite local restaurant, hands down. It's a sushi restaurant with an owner/operator, Howard, who has a... memory like an elephant and will remember all of his guests and details about them that you would not expect even closerrelatives to remember (he will ask about my son who lives on the other side of the country and ate with us one time whilevisiting). His wife handles all the Sushi orders, his son handles anything that requires cooking outside of the sushi. Veryfamily owned and oriented... On top of all that, the food is authentic sushi cuisine that is easily four star, with some localassimilations such as the Montrose Roll and the Dynamite roll that has jalapenos on top, as well as the traditional standardslike Dragon Roll and California Roll. I will recommend Hiro Restaurant to anyone visiting the Montrose, Colorado area andlooking for authentic sushi and Japanese fare. I guarantee you will not be disappointed (except for the fact that it's a small,cozy establishment that leaves one waiting for a table for a while depending on the time...but still well worth the wait)! We've eaten here four times and had only small success and favor with their rolls, the last couple of times we've ordered the... tempura and it's been fabulous, some of the best I've had. Shrimp or chicken, sweet potato, squash, broccoli, and super mildonion all tempured just perfectly. There's not much tempura in Montrose so finding this was a prize. The service is good andthe cherubic owner is there with smiles and bad puns... very friendly, never obtrusive. We will definitely be back. Read more
Not as great as we were expecting. We got some sushi rolls and their chicken ramen. They were ok. Presentation of the rolls was... mediocre and the quantity per order was inconsistent. Ambience was dull, and had an unpleasant smell similar to wet dirty rags.Came out dissapointed. Read more
I heard this place had decent Sushi, Have been wanting to try it. My son and I stopped in today and decided to order a Sushi... roll, 2 Ramen bowls and Gyoza with 2 hot teas. When our order was taken I asked if the noodles were fresh and was told yes bythe lady who took our order I also asked if there was pork and was told this is not Japan it?s America???????. The sushi rollarrived first and it was excellent. I believe it was called the dynamite roll. Then our ramen arrived, folks, it was instantnoodles and broth with small chunks of beef added along with some chopped scallions. Horrible!! I was completely disappointed. Usually ramen has thin sliced meat, an egg half and hand made noodles. Well, if you were gonna Americanize Ramen, you hitit spot on rite out of the plastic package. Can?t believe you are charging people $15.00 a bowl for that instant soup. Thenour gyoza arrived, $9.00. For 5 small over-fried to petrify-cation. I am gonna say only 2 stars because the sushi roll wasgood. But the rest was a disgrace to Japanese steak houses. Worst of all, we walked out after paying the ticket for 75.00 for2 people. Shameful!!
