It took me a while to write this review, and I am writing it with a lot of hard feelings. Cru Uncorked was our first choice for... special occasions in the past (until the last visit). I will start with the worst: THE FOOD. the food was awful! It waspresented beautifully but was not good at any other aspect! Taste was industrial, portion size was unsatisfying and shaming thevalue of the money that was paid for it, some ingredients felt not fresh and had vinigary aroma to them, desert was a totaldisappointment and though it was wonderfully served (visually), it was unedible and.. well.. just bad! THE SERVICE was not asexpected and remembered from past visits. Bread and drinks were served late, and the overall attendance to the table waslacking. THE ATMOSPHERE was very good, music wasn't too loud, dining area felt spacious and it was relaxing and comfortable tosit at the table. I don't know the reason for the tremendous decline in quality of both food and service. I would definitely notvisit there again unless chef and pastry chef will improve their performances and service will get a refresher. Overall it was ahuge disappointment and made our guests (and ourselves) feel awkward. Read more
Perfect for our wedding anniversary dinner. Food was fresh and top notch. Wonderful service and wine pairing.
Really amazing fine dining experience! Our waiter, Al, was awesome. He gave us time and had great knowledge of the food. Gave... recommendations and wasn't too pushy on anything. The food was great! I believe the menu does change so we had the tomato bisquesoup, summer chicken, halibut and tuna tartare. Vibe was great, bathrooms super clean (for us females they had feminine productsand extras in the bathroom). They have both indoor and outdoor seating - we did indoor but will definitely do outdoor next time.If you're celebrating a special event, this is the place to go! The absolute best of fine dining in Cleveland. Highly recommend. Each dish offers a fresh, creative and artful palette of... seasonal flavors. And it only gets better from there — the desserts are simply unreal: inventive, complex, bursting withflavor, and stunning to look at. The best we’ve had. All too often fine dining = predictable, overpriced menu in a stodgysetting. But not at cru! Every dish was inspired, thoughtfully crafted, and beautifully presented. Portions were very reasonable— and while its not cheap, the value per $ far exceeds that of any other top-tier restaurant in Cleveland. The wine list andexpansive cellar is unparalleled. Service is warm, fun, friendly, and always anticipated every need we had. Cru may be far fromthe action and verve of the city, but it is certainly worth the journey for a special evening! Read more
phenomenal in every way. highly recommend. they saved the best for last as the desserts were mind blowing in flavor and... presentation. we decided these were the most beautiful and delicious desserts we’ve ever tasted here in cleveland or on ourtravels! the dinner was exquisite. all too often an elegant setting spells stodgy conservative food. not at cru! every dish wasbrilliant, bold, and beautiful. the wine list and giant cellar is unparalleled. service is warm, friendly, and alwaysanticipated every need we had. cru may be far from the action and verve of the city, but it is certainly worth the journey. I lost count on how many times we have been at this restaurant and every time this place delivers... and today was no... exception. We came here a bit late so we thought we are going to be very light tonight, and we did our best but this place isjust so good. But we did stick with couple appetizers and desserts. For appetizers, my wife chose Tuna Tartare and Petite Greensalad, both of which were outstanding. But the reason why she wanted to visit was - desserts (my wife has a very sweet toothand she loves to bake herself so she is a very tough judge of desserts). And did the restaurant delivers, the desserts wereabsolutely PHENOMENAL. We had Chocolate Almond Bar (the cognac ice cream that it is served with is awesome), Chocolate GiandujaTart (rum ice cream was very good and Tart itself was fantastic) and Frozen Nougat Glace (very very good and very refreshing).Their pastry chef is hitting it out of the park The restaurant itself is under expansion, they have added a semi-private wineand cheese room and its very neat (can't wait to see what this place looks like when they are done).
