It's been a good while since we've been here to eat, and we decided to make our return after the monstrosity at Mi Paloma... tonight. Not only did our waiter remember what we liked, but not once did he bother us while we enjoyed our meal, and the tacostonight were GREAT. It seems that there is a lack of passion and caring at this restaurant. Food is under seasoned, the rice looked as it had been... cooked days ago and reheated, the charro beans were actually the best thing on the plate as they had flavor. Service was veryslow despite the restaurant not being overly busy, some people standing around doing nothing. They have a salsa bar but thereweren't any cups and no one refilled them. Margaritas are quite good and they have a big selection of tequilas. Very disturbingand extremely foul smell in the bathrooms. Read more

Their food is excellent. The servers are efficient and friendly. Family friendly atmosphere. We eat here at least twice a month.

I really always love going to this place. I actually didn?t know they had such a great margarita list until tonight . I got one... with hibiscus ???? lime juice with a little simple syrup.. fantastic ! My waiter was very knowledgeable and answered all of ourquestions? I always order a chili Relleno .. doesn?t matter if I?m in Colorado , New Mexico or North Carolina. This one isdeconstructed . It has meat, white cheese and peppers just melted together. The flavor is great. I am definitely accustomed toa different style but find this one very satisfying. The fresh guacamole was a winner also ???? I really haven't had the most pleasant experience with food in Morganton however, El Portal Mexican Grill proved that those... little holes restaurants in the wall are still around to deliver what they're known for. The shrimp tacos were amazingly tasty,fresh, meaty very tasty with each bite; none of that ghastly seafood/naustalgic after taste. I was surprised to get 4! TheTomatillo Salsa had the perfect spice for those who enjoy spicy food; it had a good kick. The guacamole was different; ittasted like a green spicy tomatillo with avocados if you're wondering. It's lighter texture wasn't like the creamy bowl I'm usedto. I had it with chips. No complaints! I appreciated the experience. Again, so good. I am looking to explore the rest of theirmenu.
