The store itself is nice, clean and a nice selection including nice.....Hats! If you need hiking shade -they have cool hats. The... DELI is a nightmare. Workers rude, inept- dont have a clue. Probably because Freshies like every other business on MDI cannotget workers- and the people that are willing are a hot mess here. They are constantly making pizza literally and when you wishto order off menu they look bewildered and it will take awhile..........Meanwhile you will be lucky to find any 'hot food ' hereat any given time- the hot food area is literally usually totally empty- how can this be? They manage to keep 'pepperoni pizza but everything else- like hot dogs , burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, mozeralla stix- forget it. And after 5pm good luck-they do not like to make food for hot bar. Where we come from that hot bar stays full for folks especially around dinner time5-8- -burgers, fries, dogs, breadstix- you are lucky to find those before noon - not here- they will leave you hungry here andyou will end up with a cold sub. We ordered sandwiches paid and picked up our sandwiches after and left-a heavy pony tailedwoman ran up to our car and asked if we paid???! seriously- we were about to pull onto the busy road out front- it gets muchworse- after telling her of course we paid- another one ran out- black lady with dreadlox demanded to see a receipt- crazy!!!!Avoid her at all costs- bizarre behavior on numerous occasions- just baffled at those of us who wish to order stuff......Unfortunately Freshies like many other businesses on MDI cant get workers and can only get unstable inept who only last a fewweeks....so sad. We are trying to figure out how people in Maine live or earn when none of them wishes to actually work??Actually wondering that about many others areas as well - we travel alot- how do they make money if they dont work??? For a gas station market this was very good! I had a nice experience with the low prices and variety of options considering hat... the location of the store is in a somewhat deserted part of the island. I loved it!! I got a pizza here for less than 3 dollarsand it was surprisingly good!!!! DEFINETLY RECOMEND FOR A QUICK PIT STOP IN MDI!!!! Read more
Solid gas station stop, great egg salad sandwich
Grossly poor sanitation...no gloves dealing with food wiping hands on a dirty apron 4-5 times per sandwich...rack dropped on... floor was returned to sandwich prep area from floor by another gloved employee that then moved food with same gloves on...geedid I put you out by ordering my lunch? Store itself has lots of good stuff, but the anti-vaxers who work there are not helping the pandemic end anytime soon.
Stopped in to get two specialty pizzas - the Chicken Bacon Ranch and the Loaded Potato. My family members are pizza snobs and... they loved these two as did I. The basamlic glaze on the Chicken Bacon Ranch one was sensational. Be sure to visit thebathrooms here as they're hands down the cleanest and most modern ones on Mt. Desert Island. The pizza was even great thesecond day heated up at 265 F for about ten minutes. Read more
Horrible place to work for never again especially since they can't find managers to do their job and actually make sure their... crew is to. Loved my job till an incident happened now I'm done. Also good luck with their food most of it is expired and notfirst in first out at all make sure u check every date and time on anything u buy. Read more
