This looked more like one of those "designer tacos" places and it was actually good. I had a carne asada torta that was pretty... close to the real thing. My husband had the carnitas tacos and he said they were dry. I ordered a strawberry margarita OscarsWay- that's with chamoy and tajín on the rim instead of lime and salt. It was really good! Friendly staff and the food was delicious. We got one of each of their tacos and it's hard to pick a favorite. Pollo asada,... tinga, ground beef, shrimp, fish, carnitas, el pastor, veggie, carne asada, shredded beef. All the flavors were delicious andworth the calories. People have been telling me how good the food is at Oscar's Taco Shop in the Providence shopping area of Mount Juliet... Tennessee. I went there this week to give it a try.. It was fantastic! The young man that took my order knew the menu frontwardsand backwards. He made great suggestions. The food had a different flavor but I liked it. The portions are large and everythingwas delicious. On the quest of finding an authentic Mexican restaurant in MJ we heard about Oscars and had to give it a try. There are two... sides of the spectrum of authenticity. One side would be a Chipotle type chain and the other would be a hole in the wallrestaurants that only locals know of. Oscars is closer to that hole on the wall side thankfully. The food was great and we hadplenty of options like Tortas, Orchata, Churros, Burritos, Rice & Beans, and Quesadillas for kids. I love the atmosphere withthe tip to the cap of local Mt Juliet features mural. The staff was incredible! My goodness the staff worked so hard and had theplace looking spotless. This will become a regular staple for us and thankful they chose to come to MJ. The only downside wasthat we were driving in over on a Sunday and realized it was closed. I've been wanting to stop in here ever since I saw that a location was coming in. I've been excited to try it and have had a few... friends speak very highly about it. I've got to say I was a bit let down. My burrito was good, but everything else we got wasjust meh. First time eating Oscars and it was like heaven in my mouth. I?ve never seen a hot Cheeto burrito actually made to perfection... let alone on the menu of most Cali Mex places. It was delicious as well as the veggie nachos (nachos with all the fixings exceptmeat) and for dessert we had these super thick churros. Great food, plenty to fill up on. Glad to have an Oscar's in MJ finally. The service was quick, but the kitchen is still... learning and mixed up a few things on the order but it won't keep me from coming back. The California Burrito was great and theTaco Salad was on point. Got the chips and queso and was surprised how good it was. Chicken Quesadilla was twice as much as mydaughter could eat.
