The food was very good. It is a bit expensive but the food was worth it. We were sat in the room where the bar was and the... bartender was our waiter also. He was super slow. It took an 30 mins after we asked for a check, to actually get it. I regretgiving him a tip but with him looking over my shoulder while I signed on the electronic device, I felt pressured. I think heknew I was upset. I recommend the food not the service. Read more

The food here is excellent. The portions are good and there are gluten-free options. Both times I have been here the hosts... have been playing on their phones and not excited to seat me. A warmer welcome would be appreciated! Read more

We arrived a bit early for our reservation and they went ahead and seated us, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, they walked... us through a mostly empty restaurant and into the back room where the tables were mostly packed and it was quite loud. I took astar away for that. We didn't come to dine in a fine restaurant only to be seated in a loud sports bar (that was the atmosphere.LOUD). While we waited for our food, they continued to pack more and more people into the back room. ???? There were lots ofempty tables in the other rooms. Whyyyyyy were we all jammed into this one, LOUD room? ???? As for the food, we ordered skilletMac n cheese with steak, golden mashed potatoes, spicy broccolini, and crispy bacon brussel sprouts. The food came out prettyquick, likely because they have runners. The Mac n cheese was pretty bland, the steak ok, the mashed potatoes as expected, thebroccolini spicy, and the brussel sprouts tasty. Definitely the best thing on the table. My dining companion ordered a draftporter and he said that was very good. So, if you find yourself on this beautiful property and are hungry, the prices for atourist destination are pretty good. The staff friendly. I would just ask to be seated in a dining area as opposed to the backroom, unless you enjoy the bar experience. Read more

We absolutely love The Mount Vernon Inn restaurant. It’s quaint and cozy with a wonderful atmosphere. Tonight we were in for... our anniversary and we each had the Maryland crab soup as an appetizer. There was plenty of crab in it and the flavor wasspectacular. For Entrees we had the duck which was perfectly cooked and not like most duck it had no fat or grease on it. Thesweet potato mash is fantastic and spiced to perfection. Now I went a little adventurous and tried the Jambalaya. Not only wasit loaded with chicken shrimp and andouille sausage, but it tasted like NOLA without overwhelming spice. We highly recommendeating there especially if you want to get away from the city. - food was fresh made well and had such good flavor. Fried green tomatoes were really nice tasting and were not soaked in grease... like other places I've had. My sandwich was all fresh and put together perfectly with good flavor. - places was clean andorganized. - service was quick and staff were super friendly, our waiter was nice and attentive he went above and beyond andnever rushed us even know they were busy. - prices normal for the area and the fact it's at a historic location. - plenty ofparking in the area, but if you drive a sports car that sits low I would be careful cause most of the spots have a big dip downand you'll bottom out. - nice atmosphere I'll be going back soon. - overall a good first experience, I'd recommend thislocation. We were visiting Mount Vernon on President’s Day and decided to have lunch at the Inn. It was a buffet and was reasonably... priced($25pp), however the food wasn’t that great-it wasn’t warm enough or well seasoned. The only thing that I enjoyed wasMac n cheese, mashed potatoes & roasted veggies; mahi mahi was dry and the GF chocolate cake was too hard. I’m not sure ifthey had a-la-carte coz we weren’t given any choice, they just handed us the buffet menu. The experience went sour when I sawthe spiderweb hanging right next to me on the window. Great food! They have many foods that were popular back in colonial times. It was a perfect meal after touring the mansion... during the day. I recommend the green tomato blt, the peanut soup, and most importantly George Washington’s favorite thehoecakes! Read more
