My wife and I enjoy trying new places and we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary here at Vera Mae's Bistro. Had a... great time - it was warm enough to sit outside and there was only one other table occupied but was vacated before we got ourfood so it was like we had a private place all to ourselves, which was fun. The dinner rolls that came out while we werewaiting for our main course were average, but still good. After that everything steadily improved and provided an elevatedexperience worthy of a celebration. Salad was fresh, dressing was good, and starting with French onion soup, the food was verytasty and fun to eat. We both got different chicken dishes, and they were something to go back for. Presentation was nice andwe had fun evening together. We both ordered creme brulee for dessert and it was actually a little different flavor than weexpected but made well and we loved it. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, which was expected at this level of venue, butdoesn't always happen these days so that was nice. Overall, this is a great value for the cost. This doesn't necessarily fitour frugal food budget but for a celebration meal this was very well worth the cost. Definitely check out Vera Mae's Bistro! Read more
What an enjoyable evening with the friendliest, most knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed the baked Brie appetizer, ratatouille and... vegetable pesto pasta entree, and the tres chocolate and crème brûlée for dessert. Perfect dirty martinis with blue cheesestuffed olives topped the night off along with entertainment from an acoustic guitar duo. An added bonus is the eclecticcollection of art and furnishings. Vera Mae’s Bistro is located in downtown Muncie Indiana. This elegant restaurant has in-door and out-door seating. Walk-ins... are welcome but making a reservation will help with making sure you get a table. They offer off site catering and provide forgroup events at the restaurant. I am a local and have been eating here for years now and my taste buds never get bored. Theyhave daily specials so be sure to ask what they are. I recommend the “French Onion ????” (picture shown) for starters. Forthe entree the “Porterhouse PorkChop” ???? (picture shown) with which ever vegetable and starch they are serving for the daywill be sure to please your palate. For dessert ???? the “Bread Pudding” (picture shown) is a must. The bar is also a mustwhen visiting this very fine establishment. The drinks are hands down the best in a million miles! I recommend the FrenchMartini ???? (picture shown). It was ok, definitely upscale but other than 1 of their cheesy apps the food was mediocre, didn't see what the fuss was about.... We went in for lunch, they've a variety menu but The food was ok. And I didn't like the silverware that they gave the plateswere tacky. And they gave the kiddie scissor with the French onion soup it was a little ridiculous. for a one time experience itwas fine but I probably won't return nice date place tho! Read more
Had our 50th High School Class Reunion here. Nice setting. Temperature was uncomfortably warm due to the large group... attending the Reunion. It would have nice to have had two bartenders. Read more
